If they're purchased at Google or Kobo, they're also epubs.
For pdfs you need to use Adobe Digital Editions. Import pdf to that program, find the pdf imported using Explorer, then import that file to Calibre.

You didn't have to customize the plugin? And was it in the last couple months?

B&N PDFs can't be read with ADE. And Alf's tools don't unlock them.

What directory are the eBooks downloaded to?

I didn't customize the plug-in and it was... since August anyway, as that's when I bought my Surface.

Someone else try it. See if I fluked into good luck.

username will be some version of the user name shown when you log in to windows.

In Windows Explorer, you have to make sure in View, Show/Hide that Hidden items is checked. Otherwise the AppData folder will be hidden.

At times, it might be easier to use %LocalAppData% instead of "C:\Users\username\AppData\Local". It helps with systems such as mine where the Users directory is not located on the C: drive and saves having to remember to edit out your username. If you enter the %LocalAppData% string into the Run box (Windows key-R), it doesn't care if the directory is hidden or not. For instance, %ProgramData% will open the normally hidden Program Data directory whether or not hidden directories are to be displayed.

Another question is if anyone is aware if the BarnesNoble.Nook_ahnzqzva31enc directory name is consistent between different users and computers or if the portion after Nook_ varies.

On both of my computers, the folder is titled 'BarnesNoble.Nook_ahnzqzva31enc' I believe that is the standard name of the folder the Nook app creates, since the folder is created before you log in with your B&N account.

I've had an iMac for two years and at first, the Nook and Nook Study apps worked just fine. A couple of months ago, the stopped working, as you know. I even downloaded Parallels to run Win7 on my iMac and the apps worked there. They stopped working too. I've d/loaded new versions to no avail. Does anyone have older apps I could re-try? Also have Calibre with Alf. Would love to get the last couple of books I purchased from B&N into my library!

Nookstudy for PC is still working.

Put in your login info. Then close it before the login times out. Reopen and you'll be logged in anyway.

Thanks so much for the download! I installed it but before I was able to close it down, I received a "Network problem....please try again later." I'm right next to the router so I know that's not a real problem. Has anyone seen this type of message when logging into the Nook app on Windows? Does anyone have a workaround?

It appears that Nookstudy is getting cut off too. The Windows 8/10 Nook app seems to be the only PC app left.
