I don't know. I bet Daffy has done this using 1.2. Duck where are you?

Can you try it with the free test book from booksonboard.com and see if that works?

This may be a question for Leep or DesertGrandma. They are library checker-outers.

Nope, I'm a book purchaser not borrower. I only use KindleFIX for testing purposes to help new Kindle owners out.

I've PM'd Leep and asked her to check back in on this thread.

Sorry, I wanted to make sure it was working

I have the K1 version 1.2

Just downloaded a mobipocket book from the library, ran kindlefix.py. Loaded to Kindle, works great.

Here is my command line.

Kindlefix.py "name of book.prc" "pid"

quotes are mine.

My fault for not responding quicker.

I just helped someone work through an almost identical problem. It is the multiple PID's at the library. Get the library to remove the all but the Kindle PID. This solved her problem.

Most of us do not have the problem because we're either using mobidedrm or only have 1 PID at the library.

P.S. Have asked Deb to update the wiki

cheers

Thanks DG. I just starting to run my own test but ran into problems. A couple of weeks ago I was trying Python 3.0 to see if it would work (it doesn't). Somehow my system got screwy and I couldn't use KindleFIX (my path was all messed up). I'm re-installing everything from scratch.

Interesting, I didn't even realize we could get Kindle books from most libraries! Woes me I've been wasting money at Amazon!

Thanks for the info

"sigh.........click on my linky!

Kindles can use mobipocket formats, unless you want to (illegally) strip abode format.

If you have a library care, you can just go to the online version of your library, and click on "e-books"

We have a list of lending libraries in the wiki.

I still spend plenty at Amazon. The selection at my library isn't huge, but it does save me some money. I've considered spending a bit for the NYPL membership since they have quite a few more titles but I'm not sure if it really works out. If they had more SciFi and Fantasy for my husband it might.

Holy Cow! What a mess. I could not get KindlePID or KindleFIX to work for me no matter how many times I re-installed Python 2.6.1.

I cleaned my registry multiple times, double checked my path multiple times. Kept getting various error messages. I even resorted to adding "python" in before the kindlepid and kindlefix commands. That worked for kindlepid but not kindlefix. In the end, it boiled down to making sure the files were associated with python. For some reason, both Adobe Reader and Python were listed as choices for opening python files. I made sure that Python.exe was the default choice and then everything worked.

I need a nap.

I have two PIDs on my library account and haven't had a problem but I guess some others have had problems? I also downloaded several books since the firmware upgrade and coverted without issue.

Make sure you typed your serial number in the correct format (someone help me here - no spaces?) when running KindlePID because that was a mistake I made in the beginning (I got a valid looking PID but it was the wrong PID)
