				Calibre not recognising/finding my kindle

Hi I read in a forum (that is now closed) to post somewhere here the details below if calibre is not 'seeing' your kindle. It's weird, it usually always recognises it but for some reason now it isn't.

Sorry I looked but I couldn't find anywhere to post this... so I'm creating a new thread. My kindle is recognised by my laptop as its charging as its plugged in. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. calibre 3.39.1 embedded-python: True is64bit: False Windows-10-10.0.17134-SP0 Windows ('32bit', 'WindowsPE') 32bit process running on 64bit windows ('Windows', '10', '10.0.17134') Python 2.7.15+ Windows: ('10', '10.0.17134', 'SP0', u'Multiprocessor Free') Interface language: None USB devices on system: (USBDevice(vendor_id=0x4ca product_id=0x3015 bcd=0x1 devid=usb\vid_04ca&pid_3015&rev_0001 devinst=1), USBDevice(vendor_id=0xbda product_id=0x57f3 bcd=0x6 devid=usb\vid_0bda&pid_57f3&rev_0006&mi_00 devinst=2), USBDevice(vendor_id=None product_id=None bcd=None devid=usb\root_hub30&vid8086&pid9d2f&rev0021 devinst=3), USBDevice(vendor_id=0xbda product_id=0x129 bcd=0x3960 devid=usb\vid_0bda&pid_0129&rev_3960 devinst=4), USBDevice(vendor_id=0xbda product_id=0x57f3 bcd=0x6 devid=usb\vid_0bda&pid_57f3&rev_0006 devinst=5), USBDevice(vendor_id=0x2386 product_id=0x3111 bcd=0x0 devid=usb\vid_2386&pid_3111&rev_0000 devinst=6), USBDevice(vendor_id=None product_id=None bcd=None devid=usb\vid_04f3&pid_9999&mi_00 devinst=7)) No disabled plugins Looking for devices of type: MTP_DEVICE The Windows WPD service says there are no portable devices connected Looking for devices of type: SMART_DEVICE_APP All IP addresses {'{77BF7F4D-2F0B-11E8-8F77-806E6F6E6963}': [{'netmask': u'255.255.255.255', 'addr': u'127.0.0.1', 'broadcast': u'127.0.0.1'}], '{36DF57D3-6515-4E9D-95A2-0450E9D0B9F6}': [{'netmask': u'255.255.255.255', 'addr': u'10.1.1.67', 'broadcast': u'10.1.1.67'}]} No device is connected Looking for devices... don't always leave background stuff running when done)Is there a reason you run 32bit Calibre? (main reason to, is the conversion of complex books that would run out of memory on a 32 bit) |

FWIW, Sometimes a damaged cord or low powered cord can allow your unit to be recognized by the computer but not by Calibre. I have no idea why, but I mention it because it's happened to me a couple of times.

Just because the device is charging does not mean the PC has seen the device.

Do you see the Kindle in Windows Explorer? If not, this is not a Calibre problem.
