I rarely look at the front page (only when curious if something is there, like now) and just go to the forum page to check the few forums I follow.

As I mentioned I did subscribe to the Book Club forum so it shows up in my User CP but that's it.

I really only go to the User Control Panel. If I'm not subscribed to a thread, I don't see it, generally. Which means that having issybird add a link to a new nomination or voting thread in here would be very useful. When I log in, I'd automatically see that there is an update to this thread and I'd go see what it is.

Catlady, you can subscribe to a thread by going to Thread Tools at the beginning of each page. Press the button and select Subscribe to this thread. So for example you can do this with the discussion thread as soon as issybird puts it up. Otherwise, as soon as you post in a thread, you are automatically subscribed to it.

You can do the same thing with the Book Clubs sub-forum so that it appears on your front page.

On my agenda. However, I always link to the poll thread at the end of the nomination thread, so perhaps it's not necessary for that one?

You're correct. Those of us who work from the User CP should see that post in the nomination thread, so you won't need it for that. (I admit, I always go look on or about the first of the month regardless, but this will help, for sure. )

I find subscribing to the forum/sub-forum is less helpful. There can be posts in other threads (such as the Literary Club, or an earlier discussion thread) that mask that there's a new nomination thread. But I find it's still useful to subscribe to the sub-forum anyway, just that I don't depend on it to tell me there's a new thread I need to pay attention to.

Thanks, but I don't know that there's any advantage to changing what I do now. I can already see when threads have new posts because they're shown in boldface. And I already see the Book Clubs subforum on the main forums page. I resist change!

It's useful as long as you click on the heading to see all the threads. But then, if you want to look at the Read Recommendations threads too, it's just as easy to go there on the Forums page.

I have to say, I'm eager for the March nominations coming up on Friday. I already have a book picked out (and even written up).

I just won't be around Friday to post it.

I might be able to get to it late Friday otherwise I'll join in on Saturday.

My problem is too many candidates! I'm having a hard time winnowing them down to one I want to suggest.
