Hi guys. (If this is the wrong thread for this, just lemme know...)

For some reason, all my books somehow end up with an image of the book, which I do not want. I just want to have the title, which I take the time to number so my books end up in the proper order.

How can I turn this "feature" off...???

Definitely wrong thread.
Just read the manual. That will show you how to switch between showing covers and showing titles.

But that would be the authoritative source, written by the manufacturer.
Much better that a person go by anonymously posted rumor(s).

threads here are very cheap, always start one for a new topic.
otherwise, nobody will be able to find your question and its answer in the future.
Who would think to search for "list mode" in a jail break topic thread.
or, obviously, in the User Manual that is installed on the device.

A link to the copy of "eboard chess" you are testing will also help others reproduce your problem (a first step in getting it fixed).

And if it is an "active document" you are probably S.O.L.

Jailbroke with the factory version but then upgraded to 5.10.2.

specifically

eboard chess 0.6 (fw >= 5.6.5) :: zip package for GUI Launcher

there doesn't seem to be antyhing about active content on that page

I just assumes it was a feature of the koreader software. My bad....

The author has a thread here on his work, he is subscribed to it, so make your posts in his thread where he will get notification of your reported problem rather than posting in a jail break thread.
eboard chess is just noise for this thread topic.

IIRC, you will find information in his thread about devices other than the two models listed at his release page.

Good advice with some friendly internet snark , but I will say that his other tools like https://www.fabiszewski.net/kindle-notepad/ don't specify PW4, yet work without any issues.

Found the appropriate thread thanks to your suggestion. Updated the binary as suggested in this thread and it works great!

Yea, it is very hard to keep a sane and polite reply in my head at times.
Look at my little info box on number of posts, guess at how many where answers to the same or an obvious question.

Only if you immediately follow it up with a firmware update.

Reset: deletes hotfix (which makes the jailbreak "viral")
Firmware Install: deletes jailbreak

After a successful factory image jailbreak of 5.10.0.2 I have yet to update to a newer version. However, I found my battery life poor. I believe this is because tmd would eventually hit 100% cpu and stay there. It looks like it got into a tight loop getting a read error:
read(16</mnt/us/update.bin.tmp.partial>, 0x76f2d000, 8192) = -1 EISDIR (Is a directory)
I was eventually able to make the problem go away by touching:
/var/local/system/SKIP_UPDATE_CHECK
I was wondering if anyone else has had this experience or if there's another solution?
For the life of me I don't want to remove /mnt/us/update.bin.tmp.partial because that's the only thing I know of that prevents an OTA update.

Looks like Amazon is finally going to fix the ;installHtml issue. Over the last few days, one of my articles has been getting a lot of hits from lab126. (hi SBR-6729!) (Note to Amazon, might want to hide your referrers from your lab126 domain.)

Guessing they'll fix both vectors soon, finally wiping these in the factory as well as updating busybox etc.

Sort of weird it lasted this long. I assumed they were tacitly supporting the community by leaving that in, but I'm now thinking it was just lack of time.

At least the Kobos are finally on par.

Now that sounds like we should start recommending that those only be used as a "pair" (like you now are).


I have a KT2 (or maybe a KT3 - will have to check which) that gets much, much worse battery life - even shut down - than its kinfolk of other models right next to it.
I will look into what is happening - maybe the above or maybe something similar, since I am using some other "download inference" file system entries on that device.


Note: I was playing with alternatives to the "update.bin.tmp.partial" entry in case they where ever needed.

Thanks for the tip! Guess that explains why airplane mode makes a much greater impact on my PW4's battery life—it doesn't bother checking for updates with wifi off.

I've recently been getting awful battery life on my PW4 when wifi is enabled. Like significantly worse compared to PW3 5.8.x/5.9.x with similar settings and usage. I thought it may have been KOReader's sleep mode but it looks like it might just be Kindle firmware.
