He is not using a charger with a voltage, which is too high. He talked about using a standard USB smartphone charger with quick charge capability. And yes he can savely use it, because USB guarantes a 5V standard on the ports.

BTW, your Mimas uses 5V just like every USB device does.

The quick charge won't be enabled on devices which do not support it...

I use my Huawei Quick Charger to charge my Kindle, my Nokia Steel HR smartwatch , which also have no quick charge and do fine...

A charger of 5 V and 1A is a standard nowadays and I doubt Mimas has fast charge, I'd use it but I am not completely sure, so you can contact with them by Facebook. Apart from this, in the unboxing of Goodereader I saw a small brochure with some information, nothing about the kind of charger necessary? It is a big fail.

If for some reason your replacement power supply has a lower-than-required maximum amperage rating, you may end up with a burnt out or overheating power supply, and the device itself may not function.

In case of laptops, where battery has some charging logic, it will probably not charge or take very long time to charge, depends on how you use this laptop. I don't know if the adapter will explode in this case though. I will certainly not recommend using lower amperage adapter than Toshiba specifies.

Ok, so if amps are too low for the device, one should not use the charger. However with USB, that's very unlikely to happen...

Event you can charge it with your laptop with USB 2.0 that gives 500 mA, but I can not be completly sure, it almost sure that Mimas can work with these different amperages, but I don't know.

Then I tell user Pink Floid: " Don't worry, use it" and the device finishes damaged... No, the theory is what I've written, now it is his choice.

The device charges off 5v period, if you use say a Samsung charger for newer usb-c phones it will charge at 2.4a if it pulls that but my mars only pulls 870ma off that as that's all it wants the mimas might pull slighty more but probably same as it basicaly has the same hardware. If you used your pc port at usb 3.0 it could pull about 980ma peak but will sit at the 870ma. Usb 2.0 will be about 340ma. Less heat while charging means longer lasting batteries. This is why I keep my lithium batteries between 50-80% unless I'll be gone for a long time. With today's batteries that can get you through the day. The Mars I have not done this yet as I'm still testing full life. Use ampre to see what it pulls off a higher amp charger and yull know. It might pull more with the screen off.

For best long-term battery life, is it best to charge the Mimas before turning it on for the first time? Or is that no longer a consideration with Lithium batteries?

Any other advice about charging, for longest battery life?

A low current can fail to charge enough and the device can continue to discharge, which may upset the balance. I doubt it would damage the device but may wear out the battery earlier than usual. But 500 mA is a special number in that many computers can only output this amount and devices are expected to cleanly handle this number since they could be plugged into the device for other purposes than charging.

Android should learn overtime the capacity after a few full cycles. I just realized since we have 6.0 now I bet we can use https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....doze&hl=en_US like I do on my note 9 and get way better life but I don't think there is much running on the mimas/mars anyways to make much a difference I will test it later when my cycles are completed.
