The only thing that misses my TBR are library books. Of course, as I use the library a lot, this is a sticky thing for statistical purposes.

My TBR consists only of purchased ebooks. Library books don't affect it and a book I read right away is a null, as I don't have an absolute value* for my TBR, only a relative value.

Library books, public domain and audiobooks count as books read, but not as a TBR reduction. The three are a large percentage of what I read, which is why my TBR reduction rate is glacial, even though I read what I consider to be a respectable number of books.

They have a separate value on my spreadsheet but they don't reduce my TBR. My TBR is down 1 for the year! No books purchased yet (though my wife has brought some paperbacks in on her side). I have our collection aggregated in librarything, but her purchases don't count for me. (I turn a blind eye to that whole marital funds thing

)

Congratulations! Alas, I'm +11 (owned books only), but at least all but one are part of series I'm focusing on this year. I did cancel my Asimov and Audible subscriptions now, so just have to avoid more of those emails that come that are tempting. Hardly anything I read is at the library. Amazon had a special for Kindle Unlimited for .99 for 3 months and I'm using that to fill in on the audiobooks I don't have in one series (the Whispersync allows the audiobook to be added for free).

I didn't know about Luzme, but it's nice that I can set it for specific books vs. everything by an author.

In 2017 i had around 200 books now I have 603. not counting my nook and iBooks

For me, it came down to two realizations, which I have (mostly) internalized:

That the books I'm buying are no better or more interesting than ones I already own
That I'll never be able to read all the books I'd like to read.

Which doesn't mean I don't slip up, but I can usually catch myself before much damage is done.
