Covers on computer- yes. And even more so they are also visible as a page in the book (the first page) as always they ever have been.

Is there enough space- same as always and up until recently it had always been enough.

Tried using a Calibre plug in- I mostly avoid Calibre and just transfer the files over using a file manager (Linux). I can try the plug in and see what is up. Is there some limit to cover image space? Because the 2 GB internal storage has always sat around 1.7 GB used and still sits there, and is reduced by the expected amount per book deleted and grown by the expected amount per book added, so there isn't unexplained storage loss that would indicate orphaned image files.

What firmware version are you running? If it is an early version, then you will get that when you hit about 2500 books. And if you have used 1.7GB, then you probably have that many books. This was fixed in version 2.9.0.

It could be that the device is nearly full. It might not be generating cover images to make sure there is enough space for updating the database.

Actually, I'm a bit baffled. That "1.7GB" suddenly struck me as wrong. Looking at my Glo it shows "0.9GB of 1.3GB available". These came with a 2GB card and have two 256MB partitions. With that and and using "computer Kilo", it leaves about 1.3GiB available. Some of these did have 4GB cards, but, that would be 3.2GiB available. Were you just working from memory, or is something else going on?

Running from memory. You totally caught me. I haven't plugged it in to my computer in a while as I've been reading a rather lengthy book and I read slowly.

You are right. I have the 2 GB Glo with 1.33 GB (as the device information tells me) available to the end-user do with. I have 0.2 GB free of 1.3 GB available on the screen which says such things.

I have hit the threshold, though. Guess I shall update the firmware. Guess I win the award for running the oldest firmware the longest?

Well, you don't say exactly which firmware you have, so I don't know. But, I'm sure there is at least one person running the factory release firmware on these.

If you want to keep running that firmware, what you can do is delete all the cover images. Then it will regenerate the ones for the books you see in the book lists or open. There are probably orphaned covers because of this. As mentioned, my Kobo Utilities plugin in calibre has a cover image cleanup function. It can also do mass deletions of covers.
