My old Kindle 4 non-touch had a clicking back. I didn't bother contacting Amazon about it. The Kindle did its job perfectly well despite the loose back plastic (it was my only Kindle for a couple of years and I read a lot). I've moved on to newer Kindles, but this old clicking one is still working perfectly.

PW4 on sale amazon.com
Have not seen it mentioned anywhere, but the PW4 is on sale for 23 to 25 percent off depending on model. The 8gb SO is $99 all the way up to $187.49 for the 32gb cell without SO.

Ugh, that's irritating and odd. I haven't had that issue. The PW4 isn't ghosting books I've deleted like my PW3 was thankfully. I did get a scare when I opened and loaded it the other day and the screen was freaking out with tons of lines - was worried the screen or system suddenly broke somehow. Thankfully turning it completely off fixed the issue.

Opened mine Christmas day. I have to say, this Kindle is the first one that I am totally satisfied with. Yes, the text on my Voyage is a little sharper. However the screen is perfect with no pinholes (unlike my Voyage). And with the change they made to let users load their own fonts, I am ecstatic.
I do plan to buy out of the ads once it's paid for, and put in my own screen images, so I did jailbreak it. However that wasn't necessary to my enjoyment. I really am loving reading on the new Paperwhite! The light is a little warmer than that of my Voyage. I also like that. I'm really happy I decided to get this device. I got a nice Fintie case with a nebula on it. Matches my purple Voyage cover quite nicely. |

how is screen quality of Voyage comparing with Kobo H2O that you have in term of text contrast? by reading reviews of Voyage, my impression is that Voyage has best contrast ratio of text among all kindle products(although it might have uneven color temperature or backlight and longevity issue), but when viewing a video that compares Voyage with Kobo H2O, H2O seems look better in contrast of text. is that true with your H2O?

I got a PW4 for Christmas mostly as I’ve been complaining about the Oasis 2 and how hot it gets in the sun. Although it was intended to be my “outside” and travel reader, I am also finding it a lot more comfortable for reading in bed than the Oasis. I thought I would miss the buttons much more than I have so far. I am really delighted with it and can see it becoming my primary reading device now.

I have the new Paperwhite and the old Paperwhite and the Voyage. When I put them side by side to compare the new Paperwhite's screen doesn't look quite as good as the others. When I'm reading with it it's just about perfect. I think it's important to distinguish between comparing and reading. Little by little the new Paperwhite is becoming my reader of choice.
I also have a Nook Glowlight 3, which has a noticeably better screen than any of my Kindles. It's a remarkable screen. But it doesn't have some of the features I like in the Kindles and the dictionary is grayed out and hard to read. So even with it's better screen it's not as good for reading, although it is pretty good. I'm really pleased with the new Paperwhite. For the first time I'm beginning to wonder if I really want my other readers anymore. Gadget freak that I am I'm sure that'll pass but no other reader made me even consider something so heretical. ![]() Barry |

I feel the same way about my Oasis 2. I didn't at first (it was noticeably heavier than my other readers and the screen on my Voyage had better contrast), but now I hardly ever touch the others, except to charge them. The large screen is just so much more pleasant for me.

I leave my Voyage in my handbag so read mainly on my Oasis 2 and Paperwhite 4. I like the Oasis for daytime but I really like the Paperwhite, i use that at night as the smaller size is better for reading in bed.
