I think FrustratedReader was recommending selecting 'My Books' from the pop-down menu, via the top left icon, as more reliable than the big tile. It's news to me.

Yes.
Though maybe it was dirt or something. I sometimes get two separate taps read by the reader when I tap it once, yet the double tap for image enlargement seems to rarely work.

I have the "sense water drops" turned off in settings as that originally made the reader more responsive. I'll if changing that makes any difference.

It generally now seems more sensitive to touch since the update, yet page swipes sometimes don't work. Certainly something about the touch interface seems to have changed with the 4.8.11073 -> 4.12.12111 change of firmware on my original Aura H20 (the one with SD card slot).

Also it's the Original H2O, updated from 4.8.11073 to 4.12.12111.

I can only select bottom line (or phrase or word) with Footer on, I can only select top line (or phrase or word) with header on, otherwise I get fast page turn one direction or the other. Tap rather than hold of course gives the menu.

So I'll only use "full screen" if reading only. Before the added text edited extra config line to add the gui check box was no use because it only worked while you ONLY changed pages. Do anything else and the right margin's text was chopped off slightly/.

Doesn't QuickTurn only work in KePubs? And the right margin being clipped is a KePub problem.

It sounds like you have the KoboTouchExtended driver active in Calibre and it is converting your ePubs to KePubs as you send them to the device.

Edit: Quick way to check: In the books list or book info page, if it says "KOBO EPUB" then the book is a KePub, if it just says "EPUB" then it is an ePub.

I am having problem while editing the highlight section on h20 v1. Say I have already highlighted a line. And when I want to say include more lines in that same highlight, I would press for some time and drag the end parts. I could easily drag the end parts but not after the highlight. I need to drag once to change from white blob to black and again drag to finally extend the highlight.

I have an Aura HD and just updated to 4.12.xxx

Same s*** as any update after 4.7.10413: No Wifi anymore.

I have an Unifi WiFi network in my house (1 USG, 2 AP, Wifi N/B/G, 2.4GHz, 5GHz disabled (currently no need)), Wifi works flawlessly with all devices (2 iPhones, iPad, Fire TV Stick, Office Laptop, the LG refrigerator, and some other devices), even with my Kobo Aura HD up to firmware 4.7.10413. But if I upgrade to some version above, I always get a Wifi connection Error. The Kobo asks for Wifi password, and quits with "Unable to connect". No matter what settings I use for my Wifi (even with enabled 5GHz).

Do you have any tips to get my Kobo Aura HD working with my home Wifi?
As I said, firmware 4.7.10413 works, but any firmware version above doesn't. And I tried them all...

There are no hacks/tweaks or something like that on the Kobo (not even the kobo patcher). Just hard reset, plain vanilla firmware...

Thanks in advance
Steffen

Are you doing something that is blocking the domain www.kobo.com? When connecting to WiFi, the device checks if it can access a URL. In firmware 4.8.10956, this changed from Microsoft URL to a Kobo URL. Specifically, the firmware now retrieves http://www.kobo.com/buildinfo.xml and does some simple validation on the result. If it cannot get that URL, or the contents are wrong, the WiFi connection will not be used. This has always been the case, just the URL used has changed.

With more recent firmware, the check can be avoided. See https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=310037 for the details.

No, no URL blocking at all. As I said, 4.7. is okay, any other version above just discards the WiFi connection. Even just use my iPhone personal hotspot is ok on 4.7, but errors on any above versions...

Just tried the mentioned "IgnoreCaptivePortal=true": no change. :-(
Still no Wifi connection possible...

Well another effect on 4.12: the blank space on top and bottom (with disabled header and footer) is much larger than my 4.7 + "FullScreenReading=true". There's space for at least another line on top and bottom. :-(

As mentioned before it can be fixed with the patch.

I was sure I wasn't using kepubs. I didn't realise the Driver changed on the fly! Indeed the book I'm reading (converted from Mobi) has KOBO EPUB on the Details tab beside Synopsis on Book Info.

How do I turn this off? I want to see stuff as per it would be on Smashwords or other sites, not converted from ePub to kepub!

Disable or uninstall the KoboTouchExtended driver will revert to the KoboTouch driver. But, based on your experience (you didn't notice you were using kepubs), there is little difference in how the books are displayed. And you lose the ability to double-tap images to zoom. And as you reported this not working as a bug, I assumed it was important to you to be able to do that.

My problems with top & bottom margin are solved. Also the margin indent problem since my first FW update.
I looked at the driver settings and "Kobo eReader.conf"
I found two fixes!
I've added disableQuickTurn=true in Reading
That makes the top line and bottom line work for selection if header off or footer off. For Kepubs or ePubs!
Spoiler:

[Reading]
WaterDialog=false
annotationsViewStyle=notebook
bookProgressType=3
disableQuickTurn=true
libraryShowCovers=true
numPartialUpdatePageTurns=1
pageTurnGesture=2
pageTurningOption=option1
readingAdobeShowPageNumbers=false
readingAlignment=justify
readingFontFamily=default
readingFontSharpness\Amasis=-0.18
readingFontSharpness\Georgia=-0.153333333333333
readingFontSharpness\Gill%20Sans=-0.0666666666666667
readingFontSharpness\Malabar=-0.0666666666666667
readingFontSize=36
readingFontWeight\Amasis=-0.035
readingFontWeight\Georgia=-0.015
readingFontWeight\Gill%20Sans=0.1
readingFontWeight\Malabar=0.1
readingLeftMargin=2
readingLineHeight=1.05
readingMenuState=scrubberMenu()
readingRightMargin=2
showFooter=false
showTitle=false
swipeBrightness=false

On Device (when Kobo H2O original connected) I made two changes:
1) On "Extended" I unchecked "Enable Kobo Extended Features" presuming that this is what is silently converting ePubs to keypubs on the fly.
2) On "Collections, covers & uploads" I unchecked "Modify CSS", as why would I do this? The CSS works fine on three non-Kobo ePub readers and two ePub apps on phone & tablet. Hovering the mouse suggests this uses some file I think I don't have.
Now the ePubs are ePubs on the Kobo AND they NOW look the same as on all my other ways of reading ePubs! Not only that but unchecking "remove blank paragraphs" "Indent 1.4em" and thus leaving indent at 16pt now works on Kobo (before it was always 1/2 the point size set unless changed to em equivalent.

So now this Firmware is doing all I expect with my own books from LibreOffice Writer. I'll check if the changes I made have any effect on the Bobbsey Twins book from Gutenberg (downloaded as Kindle/Mobi + images).

Just another guess as I don't know when the Wifi WPA2 patches had been incorporated by Kobo into their firmware: is your Wifi access point of a recent version with respect to the IEEE 802.11 protocols? As there were replay attacks on the AP attachment process, this has been changed. As far as I remember, the changes apply to the Wifi non-AP stations only, that is "clients", not access points (APs). However, depending on your Wifi AP vendor's firmware, especially if it hasn't been maintained in a while, there might be older bugs now surfacing, due to the new Wifi clients' more strict handling of AP association. But then, just a guess.
