Since neither versions will work on the Mars why not worry about the versions when one actually does?

I have a slew of devices here too and the Nook app (either one) work fine on all of them except the Mars and Voyage.

No, but the onyx book nova has been reported to run it fine.

Btw, new update today v1.0.5-2018121414. Noted 2 thins in the notes, one about pdf the other about png. Don’t know exactly what was said as all the rest is in Chinese.

Tested Nook app after the update and it still doesn’t work

Yes. The Nook app runs very well on my Boox Nova. I've rarely seen the Nook app run well on an E-Ink device. The Nova is clearly the exception.

Since I have one Nook book that cost me $1.99, I'll make do with my Nook Simple Touch instead of investing in another expensive device. But this does give me reason to look into the Onyx line if I ever need to replace my Kindle DX.

I got it. Following the instructions someone left earlier in this thread, I downloaded the update, renamed it to update.zip, and then did the update. This was to get around the fact that I'm using a micro SD card formatted as internal memory. That worked, which is great.

I didn't notice anything in English. I checked the default reading app to see if it worked better. All I noticed was that the external dictionaries no longer showed up, and I could no longer see definitions in English. I couldn't tell if anything has gotten better with this update. I checked the Boyue website in case it might say anything, but the Likebook Mars wasn't even mentioned on their website.

I just realized something that I hadn't noticed before. I have my microSD card set up as adoptable storage. I downloaded the update and let it run automatically. It worked!!!!

CPU Identifier Pro is currently free. Could you install it on your Nova and report back what is lists under "Other CPU Features"? In comparing the Likebook Mars to the Kindle Fire, the latter includes several features that the former doesn't. One of these is TLS, and I know the Nooks recently updated their version of TLS.
