Finally got the case for my new Galaxy Tab A 8". It's much more 3D than I was expecting with the way light reflects on it (I thought it was just a matte picture). It has a magnet that turns the device off and on which I wasn't expecting, but since there doesn't seem to be a setting I can find to turn it off I guess I will have to adjust to it.

I deleted a bunch of the apps off my Nexus and it seems to be holding a charge better so I plan to use both tablets for reading.

Cool cover! I bought a new cover for my Nexus 7 a few months ago. It gave it a new feel again. My main reader is a Alcatel Pixiglory 5'5 inch phone that I got for free on a simple mobile promo. For such a cheap phone it makes a great reader. Not good for much else but it's the perfect size ereader for me. Add Moon+ and it's perfect. Library books I use my Kobo Glo HD still.

Michelle Diener's Breakaway (Verdant String #1) is $.99. While it is the first one and stands by itself, I think it'll make more sense if you read the prequel novellas Interference & Insurgency first.

Also, everyone else may already know this, but I just noticed that Gordon and Ilona are doing a free serialization of the next title in their Innkeeper series (my favorite series of theirs), Sweep of the Blade. Once it's finished, they are going to polish it up, including giving it a little more heat (which I don't really care whether they do or not), and put it on sale, at which point, the serialization will no longer be free. They're pretty close to the end, I suspect, so if you want to read the freebie, you should do it pretty soon. The bits have been coming roughly weekly, usually on Fridays, but occasionally disrupted by various things going on in the authors' lives.

The final episode has just been posted, so the story will probably come down within the next week or two to be readied for publication. What a wild ride! Ilona and Gordon are my absolute favorite authors right now and so unbelievably generous to their fans (known as the BDH - the Book Devouring Horde. ). That ending was everything I was hoping for, plus the last sentence was a huge hook for the next novella.

I just popped in to see if there were any holiday themed freebies and found this. Booo. Luckily I had downloaded the few things I purchased when I made those purchases, because I had totally missed this. Guess I'll be saving my rewards up for a print copy, as I read on an eink Kindle.

Anyone have non-Harlequin historical holiday recommendations? Haha!

Does anybody know what is up with the cool pics that appear at the beginning of each section in the serialized blog version? In the published Ilona Andrews e-books I've read there are no pictures at the beginnings of chapters or sections. Have they serialized other novellas or books? Did those have pics?

I don't know if it's a rights thing or ??? so that their publisher can't use the pics, but I really liked the pics in the blog version.

According to their blog entry, the "novella" needs extensive editing because of the unexpected length, so the publication is probably not going to be too soon. I haven't read the serialization because I prefer to read the story at one-go, so I'll just wait patiently for the book while keep re-reading their other books. I've been re-visiting Magic Triumphs many times because

Mischief of the Mistletoe by Lauren Willig? It's technically part of a series, but I think fine as a stand-alone.

There are some pictures in the retail versions of the Innkeeper books. Pretty sure we've seen Dina, Shawn, Arland, and her dog (blanking on the name). Since I don't read the serial blog versions, I don't know if they're the same.
