Onxy Boox Nova

Hello everyone, i have two questions for y'all.

1. Does the Boox Nova work with a usb-c to headphone jack adapter to use with wired headphones? This thread (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=312254) confirms that that works with the boox note, but I wouldn't get the nova unless I can use wired headphones.

2. Can either the boox nova or the likebook mars play mp3s with the screen in sleep mode. I will also be using it as an mp3 players / audiobook player and I'm wondering what the battery drain is for heavy mp3 use.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

quick questions regarding nova, or more so 2.0 firmware:

-- how do we access the developer options settings?

-- is there a way to access front light settings without going through neoreader? i am using moon reader as my main reader

Looks like I'll have to wait a little longer for my Nova. It was supposed to arrive today.

A little background: I ordered it from AliExpress on October 29. The seller said they had over seventy 'pieces' available. Then, the seller emailed me to say that they had no stock and wouldn't have for a while. My Nova was shipped on November 10. A little over a week ago, it arrived in the USA (Compton, CA). It left Compton last Tuesday. No updates as to its location. I checked DHL online today, and there is a note saying that my package has encountered a delay and may arrive 24-48 hours later than anticipated. Still nothing on the DHL site as to where my Nova is now, or where it has been since leaving Compton.

Interesting that when I check the seller's site on AliExpress, some people who ordered after I did have already received theirs and left reviews. And these are also international orders.

Having never ordered through AliExpress before, I don't know if this is normal for them. Banggood was quicker. Booxtor was quicker still.

I have ordered items through AliExpress a couple of times without incident. Items were as described and arrived in a timely fashion.

However, my first ever order through Booxtor got delayed at customs. It was no fault of his as the paperwork which was included in the box was all in proper order.

I suspect the shipping company lost the paperwork that was on the outside of the package. It was a real comedy of errors...

The package eventually cleared customs and I was told how much I would be required to pay in taxes and fees. It was about what I had expected. However, the delivery person only charged me for a fraction of that amount.

Of course, weeks later, they caught their mistake and asked for the missing amount. I told them that was fine, but that I would not pay it until I could see the paperwork. They then told me that they would waive the outstanding amount. Never got the paperwork, but I did save a fair amount of money.

The two other times I have ordered from Booxtor since then... No problems. And would happily order from him again.

So, although your experience may be understandably frustrating, it could be due to circumstances beyond the seller or AliExpress' control. Hope your Nova arrives soon.

First one, i don't know, i haven't found a way to do it.

Yes, press moon reader in apps a long press, manage. And quit full screen.

Now in moon reader reading is ful screen, but if you press options yo see also the nova bar and can adjust frontlight.

Finally the battery problem was because some process was draining it. After reboot it consumes very litle in standby.

My Nova finally arrived and I had a great time fiddling with it yesterday.
First impression was good, good response but wifi speed is slow.

My only complaint is the fonts on the system pages are too light and I haven't figured out how to change it yet, hopefully its possible.

I have installed Overdrive and it works perfectly! I was able to customise the fonts and retrieve my library loan books normally.

I tried to perform a Firmware Update but it complains "Upgrade package not exist". My version is definitely old at 2018-10-23_11-55_2.0_10f3717.
Any idea how this can be fixed?

Same exact situation here! I was really hoping it would be here today but no dice. Last USPS tracking update has it still in Compton but DHL says tendered to service provider in Forest Park, GA. Only thing I can think is the wildfires in CA have slowed it down but that's just a wild guess.

I've same problem. Change language to chinese. Then update. After update return to your language. There is no other way, and i don't see firmware avalible to download and install.

The CA wildfires could be a factor. Or customs delays, as others have said. Our Novas will arrive eventually!

I have the Boyue Likebook Mars (and I see that you do as well), but I was too curious about the Nova and bought one. It will be interesting to see how the two compare.

If only packages could talk! (Someday soon, perhaps.) Mine might have an interesting story to tell once it arrives. Yes, there could be things beyond anyone's control - customs issues, the California wildfires, weather, or lost paperwork. We have a snowstorm arriving tonight which could slow things down a little more.

It is good to hear that AliExpress often sends items in a timely fashion. That's encouraging.

Is there someone who can tell something bout the possibilities USB-C con offer in this device? Many things are supposed to be possible with this connector, like headphones connections or second monitor.

Also would like to know how is the apps installing experience. I bought the Likebook Mars some days ago and the most probable situation is me returning it in the next days, so really want to know that. Many apps crashing in the Mars

Do you see any visible benefits of the upgrade? Else I can wait for the English firmware to be available for upgrading since I have no urgency for it yet.

Google Store don't forget user, in October only works till app is closed and not running.
Frontlight get an improvement. In October it's very high in level 1. Now you have from 1 to 32 in orange or blue led.
Now you have an option to make autofrozen new installed apps or not.
Also improves neo reader paragrpahs were faked in the october firmware.

But don't resolve the more important failure, google store don't recognize buyed apps. And the apps you install from store or by sideload apk are not recognized by the ereader. Yes they install, you can execute them. But if you try to use colordict or goldendict from moonreader (for example) it says there is no dictionary installed. If you go to the library an want to assing an alternate reading program there is no more programs thante neo reader. It's like you have no one installed.




Some one knows where is the screensaver located in the system files?. I see you can change the screensaver from filemanager but if i want to recover the official screensaver i don't see an option for it.

Do you have Max 3 in works? Any chance of frontlight on 13.3'' e-reader?

I prefer to wait the boyue mimas 10.3 with front light. 10.3 is enough for me. But front light is very improtant..
