I finally ordered the 10-inch Fire tablet. I had been waffling, but two things pushed me over the edge: an increase in the cashback from 5 percent to 10 percent when using an Amazon Prime credit card, PLUS 8 percent from ebates on select Amazon devices, which included the tablet.

So, if my calculations are correct, the net cost for the 10-inch w/o special offers, and including taxes, will be a little over $67, and with free one-day shipping, I'll have it tomorrow.

I'm planning on getting a new Roku, and I'm ridiculously tempted to get a Dot.

Thanks to this thread, I cancelled my Prime Alexa order without the smart plug and reordered the Dot 3 with the $5 smart plug this morning. This will be my first Echo device, I've only rarely used Alexa on a tablet so far.

Considering buying an Echo to give as a gift, partly to get another cheap plug. Intended recipient already has a Dot. Crazy idea?

I also picked up a Roku streaming stick ($20 off the regular price) this week to replace a first gen Fire TV stick. Not really picked up though, just ordered, Amazon seems to have misplaced the package, 3 days late so far.

Now I think I'm done, unless there's a deal on gift cards. I traded in my Dot 2 for a Dot 3, and with the trade-in discounts and the ebates and Prime card cash back, it should end up costing me eleven bucks and change.

I also got the Roku Ultra for $50.

It's not a crazy idea. The Echo is great for listening to music and Dots can be spread all over the house - kitchen, garage, bedrooms, den, living room, etc. Remember, Echos and Dots can be used as intercoms.

Bottom line - one can never have too many Dots. So get the Echo and have the recipient move the Dot to another room.

Today is officially Black Friday, but the madness has only just begun. There's still Cyber Monday next week plus numerous sales leading up to Christmas. So keep your wallets handy.

BTW, now's the time to remember anything you think you might've forgotten to get. So think hard. If you remember it next week and beyond, chances are it's no longer on sale or if it is, the discounts will be smaller.

Remember now = greater savings

Remember later = greater costs

Apparently you need the Echo to get the full effect - my Tap only managed to bump the temp to 45 today. Better than nothing though...
