Hi!

I'm a futur Kindle PW 2018 user and a total newbie about jailbreaking hack…
Never done it before on older ereaders…

I'd like to be able to read epub?

I'd like to be able to add custom fonts?

Do I need to install more stuffs? A Kobo reader app or is it build-in?

I read a bit about MobileRead Package Installer (aka., MRPI)

Is it needed for that? If yes, any good easy tutorial please?

That's a stock feature since FW 5.9.x, so, built-in the PW4.

Yes, it's how we install our stuff. MRPI's own thread should cover everything the JailBreaking threads did not.
Basically: put files in folder, click button, enjoy.

Guys i'm sorry to ask but my latest experience with jb is with my kindle 4 at least 4 years ago, thanks to you i put the screensaver cover hack and chess on it and basically never did anything else about it. Will it always be possible to update with a jb? my main worry is to brick my all new kindle while updating in the future, Thanks!

This thread is about the 4th paperwhite model just this month released.

Your 4th model Kindle is much, much, different.
It is way past EoL and has not had a firmware update for years.
Also, as an EoL device, it will not be receiving any updates again, ever.
Problem solved.

im confused, is the pw4 shipping with 5.10.0.2 now jailbreakable or not? im about to order one rn and dont want to deal with sending it back if it doesnt.

the main reason for me to jailbreak is using the epub format mostly, so its kinda worthless to me, if i cant do that.

Sorry, i was really unclear, i meant to just explain my "background" about jb, i actually ahve the new paperwhite, i was asking about it. Anyway, for now, i already followed this guide and it worked perfectly! i was unsure about future possibilities to upgrade: i understood that it' possible to update with the bridge to the last release right now, if new update will come out, the bridge will be updated, right?

mine was a 0.1, shipped yesterday arrived today (Italy) anyway to my understanding 0.2 works too with another factory image

Yes, it is. I was one of the early guinea pigs and I'm happy to report LibrarianSync, Screensavers and KOReader (nightly) all appear to be working just fine. I have since jailbroken two more PW4s (PP08 and T607) which all shipped with 5.10.0.2.

Just don't let it update to 5.10.1.2 before you jailbreak.

Plus, your "info box" in the left column claims you only own a K4.

The bridge is viral, it auto-reinstalls following any Amazon update.
So your safe until Lab126 defeats the virus.

Also, you do not have any choice but to update to the currently posted firmware for the PW4 - it is your only choice and none of our things here are intended run on the factory's Q.C. firmware.
