Onxy Boox Nova - Page 7

Thanks everybody for the info on Nova, seems I will order it next days.

I have 2 questions for the owners (and future ones):

1. Does it need a screen protector? If yes, can you recommend which brand/type is the best? I never had a e-reader before so really have no idea do I need it.

2. Does it come with the case? If NO, can you recommend some good case for it?

Both aliexpress and joybuy.com ship to Europe so seems I will order from there (never heard about joybuy.com before, is it reputable online shopping site, is it safe to order?)

JD.com sister site (English) is JOYBUY. Never use them. So I don't know. They do not have Boox Nova - it's not listed at all -

On JD.com, its around 229 USD but out of stock. I am waiting for inventory...

How would you say this night light compares to the Kobos?

On the Kobo device with orange light, there is a green infiltration at the bottom of the display. Nova is better. The white light of Kobo and Nova is homogeneous, with a narrow slightly gray bar at the bottom of the display.

I've just recieved mine today. It seems good. But i try to update the ereader and it says there is no upgrade. It's in version 2018_10_23. How do you get the 2018-11-21 version?.

And i've certified the ereader to use playstore, and works, but the apps i've buyed appears as to pay again. Epic fail.

Also is there any way to add and app to the lateral bar?.

The update currently only works if the Chinese language is set up.

Thanks, that worked, now it goes a bit better, it didn't forgot playstore user. But apps still appers as not buyed.
And it seems to forgot applcations installed. Moonreader did not find goldendict and appers as no dictionary application is installed.
If i enter store and habilite golden dict works 1 time, the next one apperas as no dicionary app it's installed.

Also with the update gradation of frontlight allows more adjust.

It needs a bit of optimization with google so apps works fine and you can install apps that you own. For normal user in the state it comes perhaps it's a bit dissapointing and if there is not a imrpovement in firmware it can take people backwards this ereader. Let's see if onyx improves this things.

Also library needs a lot of imrpovement, for example an option to scan books and put covers automatically. Allow more orders. Its very simplistic.

It'll be great if you can change or add apps to the sidebar, i dont want the shop so i prefer to have ther my reading app or calibre companion.

Is it possible to prevent the indexation of books (for those who really have a lot) and prevent the display of the covers of the "Newly added" (only put the "Now Reading") ?

Just got mine today, just side loaded some of books i wanna read and the manga app tachiyomi.

The manga app seems to drain the battery quickly. The book readers that came with the system seem to work just fine not even considering opening the google play.

Maybe in the future if i needed something more but the device as it is seems to work just fine; my only past experince with an ereader was onyx t68 and i was ok with just reading books using the stock apps.

Not only possible, the covers are not showed until you enter in a book. A generic cover it's shown and it's not possible to generate a process to show them.

After one day with the new firmware i've noticed a massive battery drain in standby. The frist day with the Octobre firmware, all the night in stanby was at 98 % in the morning. Now it drains half battery. I configured to autofrozen all apps but i have not noticed any improvement.

So a new fix needed addiotonally to the playstore problem.

I must say that probably it's better option right now likebook mars if you don't want to suffer untill onyx fixes this firmware issues.
