-Good questions for the grip. Could use two Gripzilas if you want to stay ultraportable or a plastic version of that Anker fold up stand would work if you need multiple angles and lightweight.
-I saw one for the Aura One which would be the screen area.
When I enable bluetooth (with or without connected to my bluetooth mouse), battery drain 5%/hour. How is your battery drain per hour?

New user here.
Just got the Mars yesterday from Amazon, decent price but no case included. Not a big deal as I tend to go naked mostly anyway.
Overall I like what I’m seeing up to a point. As noted here it runs the Kindle and Moon+ reader apps good enough. It also runs the scribd app ok too, and that is important to me. I am disappointed that it won’t run the Nook app though and I have a lot of books there. Hopefully someone will figure out how to make that work.
Battery life just sucks compared to any e-ink device I have ever had and turning it off isn’t so good since it all too often comes back up in Chinese. The battery life is worse than any device I have for that matter. And as much as I like having an 8” e-ink reader, this just may end up getting returned. And that is sad.

Thanks for mentioning that. I installed it, copied my file to it, and saved it. When I connected to my desktop again, I could see the file, as well as the Open Office files I saved earlier. I don't know if this had anything to do with it, but at least the problem with transferring files created on my Likebook Mars to my computer seems to have gone away.

The battery gets used up quickly when you are updating it and installing lots of apps. But it's not so bad otherwise. I suppose I do have to recharge it more often than my Kindle, though not as often as my MP3 player.

Thanks. Yeah I suppose I should give it a few days after I settle in with what I want on it and give it a chance. I guess I was surprised that it won’t do a few days withou a charge as my Kindle Voyage and now dead, Nook e-ink reader.

I found a less than ideal solution to the Nook issue. First download Chrome as the default browser is just a bit too flakey. Then go to Nook for web. You can read Nook books that way though is isn’t as full featured and the web experience, even with Chrome isn’t exactly thrilling.

Loaded up Amazon Music app and it works well though the looks terrible on this device. Tested using my Beats X wireless EarPods and they worked fine too. Volume is a bit lower than on other devices though, but good enough. I did notice with Bluetooth on, connected to the Beats, playing music in the background and reading, that the battery goes down a bit quicker.

Battery life won't be anything like an ereader. You should compare it to an android tablet since that's what it is. I just checked the battery life since I used it last and it only used .2% per hour for the last 8.5 hours which is pretty good. I always have wifi on, but have it set to keep wifi on only when plugged in. I don't use Bluetooth on it so I can't comment there.

I just installed the Nook app on my regular tablet to see how it works there before trying it on the Mars, and found that I have a $25 credit! It looks like it was from a gift card. I haven't bought anything from them in years because they are too expensive, and I don't remember getting a gift card. Thanks!

Since I already have Firefox installed, I tried it with that. It offers a selection of fonts, but the fonts listed are ones that are likely to be on a PC or Mac, and since it did not use web fonts, the only real choice it gave me was between serif and sans serif. All the serif fonts looked the same, and all the sans serif fonts looked the same. I did have Georgia, Times New Roman, and Verdana in my /fonts/ folder, but it appears that Firefox ignores this.

It also has no dictionary, and it disables the pop-up dictionary extension I'm able to use with other pages in Firefox. So, I can't look up words by touching them.

While it is nice to know how to read Nook books on the Likebook Mars, I'll stick with my Nook Simple Touch for the Nook book I still have left to read.

With Chrome Nook for Web has a few fonts and they are correct.

Battery use as you note, is about the same as for some of my other Android gear. Spent the day loading a couple apps and then reading. Started at 100%, after about 8 hours of nearly constant use, it is down to 32%. Not bad. One bright side is that it seems to charge fairly quick.

Maybe you can try Airdroid. I remember using that with my hacked Nook a while back to transfer files. It's not ideal but it works.

Installed Nova Launcher. While it works I cannot change wallpapers. Annoying to see a dark background on an e-ink reader as it smears sometimes.

No. It's 2.4GHz.

Also discovered it is lacking Calendar Storage. Got a notification for ByRead-V1.0.3-2018101818, which failed. The update instructions were all in Chinese.

Got an update this morning, no clue what actually did since most of the info was in Chinese. Fortunately it ‘Download’ and then ‘Install’.

Version 1.0.3-201801818

Tried the Nook app again, still no joy. The only thing I saw after the install was an App Store with a small selection of apps.

UPDATE: There is still a problem. I saved the file I am working on in DroidEdit, then connected my Likebook Mars to my desktop so that I could continue working on it at my desktop. When I went to the bottom of the document, my latest changes to it were not there. It included changes I made this morning, but it did not include the ones I had just saved. I suspect some kind of buffering is going on in the file system, such that it writes to disk only every once in a while. That would account for my new documents not showing up when they were still new but showing up later, and it would account for what's going on now. It also predicts what just happened. I saved a copy of my document to a different file name, but when I look at its directory in Windows, the copy is not there.

There was an update to BYRead-V1.0.4-2018111919 this morning. The main difference I noticed is that there is now a new Dictionary app. The icon shows a capital letter A in a magnifying glass on a book. At first, it is not useful for looking up words, because there are no dictionaries in the Dict folder. The native reading app also has the ability to use a dictionary in the Dict folder, but it also mentions that a dictionary needs to be copied to the Dict folder. While most of the text concerning the update was in Chinese, I did spot the word stardict. With that in mind, I followed this link:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/xdx...ict-form-xdxf/

Once there, I found a 1913 Webster's Dictionary, which I downloaded. Then I copied the files webster_1913.dict.dz, webster_1913.idx, and webster_1913.ifo to the Dict folder. I rebooted the Likebook Mars, then tested it out. Both the new Dictionary app and the native reading app were able to use the 1913 Webster's Dictionary. I'll post this much before trying out other dictionaries.

I got that update this morning too. I look forward to seeing what you find in dictionaries.

Btw, I noted that after the previous 1.0.3 update hat my sleeping battery drain improved. Overnight just a 2% drop in battery. It will be a few days before I get to do am all day reading as I have company in and more expected. By thanksgiving day there will be 24 people here.
