I can handle one mug in the morning, and then I'm done. Today, some fresh squeezed orange juice (now a treat) to go with the Huevos Rancheros that my DW made for breakfast. But now just faux San Pellegrino.

I hope to sample this sometime, but it appears that either good whisky hates Ohio, or Ohio hates good whisky. I'm not sure which it is. I only know that I cant find Talisker in any local shops, and no online shops are currently allowed (or so they say) to ship to Ohio addresses.

After all this time, I couldn't resist looking and you can get Talisker 10 year (750 ml) all over the state; $49.99. I'd be curious to hear from the aficionados if that's a decent price. Still more than I'd spend to try it!

FYI: Talisker Storm is $39.99, 18-year old is $124.99 and Distillers' Edition is $69.99.

It seems that it's Ohio that hates good whisky. I didn't realize that Ohio is one of 17 control states, meaning the Division of Liquor Control buys all of the liquor coming into the state and oversees its sale. In short, if the Department of Commerce, which runs the Division of Liquor Control, doesn’t bring it in, Ohioans can’t buy it. This is also why no online shop can legally deliver liquor to an Ohio address. I had no idea such stone-age garbage was still in effect today.

There was a pretty large axing of some liquor brands as recently as 2018 that included quite a bit of single-malt. The good news is that Talisker is not one of those that was axed. The bad news is that very few state-licensed liquor stores in my area seem to carry it. I found one in my tri-county area that indicated they carried Talisker Single Malt and Talisker Distiller's Edition. I don't get to that area very often, but I may at least call to see if they do have some on hand.

Well, it's certainly better than the price here! BC price is officially $96.99, but once you add in the taxes, it's well over $100 CDN. With the conversion to US dollars, that puts it around $80 USD.

One place to try pricier single malts is a place that does whisky tastings. High end bars and some restaurants are one possibility. Get a flight of three to taste against each other.

That's an excellent price -- NC charges $79.99 for the 10yr old, and $59.99 for the Storm (a blend of Talisker barrels).
