Screen uniFORMAty? (see what I did there?)
Hi. Sorry, but as one of those people who've complained about screen lighting/color uniformity (one side or area of the screen is lighter/darker, more splotchy than other areas), I was wondering about the Forma. Can owners share how they feel about the lighting? Thanks in advance.

I picked up a Forma today at Wal-Mart, and I have approximately a 1/4 inch strip along the entire right side of the screen where the light is a lighter blue than the rest of the screen and there is even some faint line shadowing on the right side too.
The lighting is not noticeable with brightness set <=3%, but anything above that stands out to my eye. I also notice if I play around with the natural light settings (i.e., more orange color), the faint shadowing intensifies to the point where it looks like a long shadow line on the right side of the screen. I normally read with the light setting set low anyways (my A1 is at 2%), so I'll see if this bugs me when reading later tonight. Last edited by kansaskyle; 10-24-2018 at 06:07 PM. |

@vampmiller: Screen uniFORMAty? (see what I did there?)
![]() Hmmm... I suspect that replies from those who actually have Forma's would be most useful. All too many will happily quote from negative or positive posts without ever having seen the device. Last edited by DNSB; 10-24-2018 at 09:55 PM. |

Oddly, I read it before I posted. Kansaskyle's comment is that type I wanted to see. An actual owner. Not someone reposting other people's comments. I've either already seen those comments or would use search to pull them up. |

Cross posting from reddit, the Forma has a dark light dark banding issue. The other thread has a novel concept of it looking like a page gutter — and I agree. I also do agree that it’s quite distracting. It took me a while to get a good Aura One but it looks like the Forma is like this by design.
See left side in my photo... or bottom if the forum didn’t rotate the image. |

I own the Forma
(https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...&postcount=365 a little comparison at 100% brightness, later I will make it at 50 and 20%) The uniformity of the display is not one of its strong point. Also the black is not really black but more a dark grey (compared with Voyage and H2O). Last edited by webgandalf; 10-25-2018 at 03:24 AM. |

Mine looks exactly like the photo posted by ReaderGeeked.
As it happens, I would have set my margins quite wide anyway (kind of a waste of the large screen, but my progressive lenses have a small "reading" area so it's more comfortable that way). The text doesn't run into the light strip so I don't think it will really bother me -- not that that excuses it. |

I have the Forma and can report the exact same issue with the screen as kansaskyle did. I don't think it is a deal breaker by any means as I rarely use the frontlight but as others have mentioned it's more about the satisfaction of having something near flawless when you drop all those dollarydoos on a new gadget.
