I have generated a wiki page for the Kobo Forma‎‎ in anticipation of Oct 16 prerelease.

which would be like having two four-inch readers side-by-side, no? Can't see much value in that. The landscape seems more useful for comics and PDFs, as well as the visually impaired. New code is new bugs, so leaving it out is probably smarter.

Don't you mean 160? I believe the screen is 163 x 122 mm, consistent with other 8" readers. See Screen sizes in our wiki.

I agree with you. That's why I thought the opinion about tablets and cellphones struck me as funny. Especially tablets, since functionality and form are top priorities and well executed. Too bad hap got bent out of shape and immature about it. Oh well.

Nah, you are mistaken.
It is not that obvious, because the difference in screen size is only 0,2 inches and the scale is not very detailed. But the screen of the Forma is definitely a little bigger (in hight and width).

Here is another image with the screens lined up and the Forma screen projected onto the Aura One.

I love my Kobo ereaders ! Big, lightweight, flexible, comfort light, interesting ergonomics, water proof, page turn buttons !

Count me in.

My Forma order will be placed on October 16.

Kobo is once again pushing the design envelope and I look forward to trying it out..

(how outrageous that we suffer such a huge impost and are asked to pay aud429. 95!!!)
Could be they figure you've got more money to spend. I remember working with a number of Australians (in a country that was not Canada and not Australia) and discussing typical wages in Australia. They seemed quite high compared to what they are in Canada.

OECD stats do indicate that average national wage in Australia is about 25% more than in Canada

Indeed.com's salary surveys, for example, indicate that average Australian salary for an office clerk is about 80% more than the average office clerk's salary in Canada

More money chasing the goods means higher prices. That's what they tell us in economics class anyway. I suspect part of it may also be tariffs and they've got the populace used to paying more for everything.

It's like how the publishers get us to pay more for hardcover books than paperbacks when, in quantity, they cost almost the same to make and ship.

Hmmm you've got a point. I don't know why I assumed I'd get two pages in landscape mode. Maybe because someone stated somewhere that holding the device in landscape mode with thumb on the page turn buttons in would be like reading a paperback...

I agree with you on the Word side by side thing, but I do believe that's quite different. (E.g. much bigger pages and either scrolling up and down involved or text too small to read.)

In any case, on an ereader in landscape mode I'd prefer two pages side by side. I'd hate reading reeeeally wide sentences all the way across the screen.

In The Netherlands, the price will be 279.99EUR, which is currently 246.15GBP or 457.63AUD.

To be honest I didn't realise there was such a huge price difference until Lynx-lynx' post... 299.99CAD is currently 200.76EUR 😳

While taxes may not explain everything, they explain part of it. In Europe it is the norm and usually required to post prices including all applicable taxes. In Canada, as well as the US, online prices DO NOT include taxes and fees.

Also, depending on the province, sales tax in Canada can range from 5% to 15%.

Okay, so in the province with highest sales tax, the customer would pay 345 CAD. That's still only 230 EUR, nowhere near the 280 EUR the Forma's selling for over here.
