PDF - Replacement of Mobi Pocket by Calibre

Nowadays I use the Mobi Pocket Creator to convert PDF Files to prc and then prc to epub using Calibre.

IMHO it is the easiest way to obtain good results, converting PDF-documents.

It would be great if some day Calibre could also convert PDF-Files to prc, same way as Mobi Pocket does. So, it could replace the Mobi Pocket Creator.

Why not convert to mobi instead of prc? The differences between them are miniscule.

The result is not the same. I tried all kind of formats. The best result is the way I described: first convert PDF to prc using Mobi Pocket. Then import prc to calibre and convert to epub. Try yourself.

I have used this method extensively, for me its appeal is that it produces consistent results without any tweaking, because there's nothing to tweak.

That said, these days I mostly import PDFs into Word 2016, which has the same appeal - consistency. I then use the ePubTools Addin for Word to massage the DOCX, it has features that specifically target dealing with the idiosyncrasies of OCR and PDF conversions.

Indeed, this works too. Thank you for your report. I am trying getting rid off Mobi Pocket, as it is outdated and is not supported anymore.
