I wasn't aware that patches were released for 4.10.11655. Did you use the patches from the previous 4.10.11591 release?

How do you find the Overdrive integration? (probably not useful to you as you don't use wifi).

I didn't find the patches updated to this version. Did you use the patches of the precedent version? (4.10.11591)

I used the patches from the previous version (risky that way ), but I use very few patches:

• libnickel
  • Block WiFi firmware upgrade
  • Custom footer (page number text)
  • Fix three KePub fullScreenReading bugs
  • Allow searches on Extra dictionaries
• nickel
  • Custom font to collection and author titles
  • Fix reading stats/author name cut off when series is showing
  • Increase size of kepub chapter progress chart
  • Increase the cover size in library
  • Increase the view details container size
  • Remove footer (row3) and increase cover size on new home screen
  • Show all games

I don't know about overdrive as I live in Spain and, as far as I know, overdrive is not available here (even although I have cards for American libraries).

I just updated my Clara HD to the 4.10.11655 firmware. I tried updating through the device, but it did not recognize any available software update (it stayed on 4.9.xxxx)... I manually downloaded the MK7 firmware for 4.10.11655, plugged my Clara into my iMac, and copied the contents of the extracted zip over to the .kobo directory. The Clara updated and rebooted, and I now had an option for Overdrive under settings.
Once logged in to Overdrive, it prompts you to select your library, and then you become part of that library system (many libraries). You can now access Overdrive by going to the Kobo Store. It tells you that you can borrow any book in the Overdrive Catalog through the Kobo Store, or you buy the book through the Kobo Store.
Also, it seems to always remember my wifi password, even across sleep/wake cycles.

@Nemo1984, no, I haven't noticed anything wrong (neither patching nor working). @LucyOne, no, I use the new method, that is easier for me (yes, I know I'm the strange one here , but I like to test the software and this is a change I like).

Finally did a manual update and it works! Can just borrow right from the device without the hassle of using Adobe Digital Editions, and they get downloaded as kepub's! Very convenient. I'm going to be borrowing a lot more now for sure.

For Derf: I just tried to update the firmware on my new Clara HD via my iMac. I was able to find the .Kobo directory, but when I copied the contents of the kobo-update-4.10 folder into the .Kobo directory, disconnected and restarted the Clara HD it booted right back into the original firmware. I am obviously missing something and am a newbie at updating firmware. Please provide the missing steps.

I've been bumping into the WiFi password issue intermittently. I've had to log back into the network only twice since the update, but it's a tad annoying. Going to sleep isn't triggering the issue. At least, not when I tested it. If it's intermittent or a different trigger, then opening and closing the sleep cover isn't going to do anything. Any ideas on how to solve it?

Update: Its been such a busy month, I completely missed that this was a newer update than the one that introduced the WiFi bug! Updating now.

Try manually rebooting by turning the Clara HD off then back on again by holding down on the power button in the back for a few seconds. Let go for a few seconds. Then hold the power button for another few seconds to turn the Kobo back on. You should see cycling ◽️◽️◽️◽️◽️ box icons. If that doesn't work, you didn't transfer the files correctly. Make sure you transferred all the contents of the uncompressed update file directly into the .kobo folder, not the kobo-update-4.10 folder itself.

That happened to me, too, so I'll be interested in the responses. Fortunately, I got the new firmware over the air (after entering my password for the wi-fi, of course.)

It’s possible you downloaded the wrong firmware, did not copy all the files to the .Kobo directory, or copied the files to the wrong directory. Here’s what I did on my iMac (from memory).

Download the firmware zip file for the MK7 Clara from here

The zipped firmware should end up in your ~/Downloads folder. Open a finder window and navigate to your Downloads folder and double click the Kobo-update-4.10.11655.zip file and it will extract to a new folder with the same name. Go into the folder and you will see three items:

\Upgrade directory and subdirectories - Linux boot and kernel
manifest.md5sum - md5 hashes for the \Upgrade directory
KoboRoot.tgz - this is the firmware

Connect your device to your iMac, wait for it to power on if it was off, and choose “connect” on the device. A new device called KOBOeReader should appear on the Mac desktop.

Make sure Finder of Mac is the active app, and go to the top screen menu and select “File”, “New finder window”, or press Command + N. Now from the “Go” menu at the top of the screen navigate down to “Go to Folder” ….or better yet…hit Command+Shift+G.

Type: /Volumes/KOBOeReader/.kobo

This will open the hidden folder on your Kobo eReader where we need to move the files.

Copy the contents of the zip (the three items you extracted) in the one finder window over to the .kobo folder (the other finder window). Wait for it to complete.

Right click on the KOBOeReader device on the desktop and choose eject. Within 10 seconds the Clara shut down and started installing the new firmware. It took less than 60 seconds to install. Then the device booted up again. The new boot up time was a little longer than previous firmware.

Check under settings that your device has the newest firmware installed.
