Dear friends!
I have Koba Glo. Changed E-ink screen. On a new train of 2.5 v is written. The image on the screen and the letters became not black as before and gray.

How can I solve the problem? Need a new firmware? Sorry for my English.

If it is working otherwise, restoring an image (which both this and the other thread you posted to are about) won't do anything. But, you can try a factory reset and see if that clears anything up.

Otherwise, did you get the right screen?

I try a factory reset. No effect.

For those using MacOS, I thought I'd mention software that worked quickly and easily for me.

Note: I was restoring/flashing an image for the Glo HD, though the principles are the same.

Install Etcher
[Unsure if necessary] Install FUSE

I actually did step 2 first, but I am unaware whether it was really necessary. I chose to install the MacFuse compatibility layer, as seen in the install window.

So maybe just try step 1, if you're on a Mac, and if it doesn't work, install the extra stuff. The extra stuff is a tool that lets you read the Linux filesystem. I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to the more technical aspects of all this, so I can't give a more informed reason for installing.

Anyway, step 1 - Etcher - is a free app that is small and looks lovely. It worked first time to flash the image, and worked quickly.

Highly recommend it!

I've been trying to upgrading Kobo memory using Mac with no result.

The SD Card just couldn't mounted.
Been install Fuse with Extra Stuff, still no luck.

Is anybody using Mac can give me some advice, please?

I've replaced the micro SD card in my Clara HD. It works fine, except for one issue. Every time I connect it to my PC (Win 10) there's a prompt that the memory card needs to be checked. Checking never finds any errors, yet it will pop up again when I connect the device next time.

It could be a mod that prevents clean umounting of the data partition before exposing it as USB storage device. Filesystem is then flagged as "mounted" and seems unclean to PC. This also used to happen with unmodded Kobo, if you connected to USB while having a kepub book open. Was fine if you go back to main menu first.

I had an old mod to try and debug this case here https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh....php?p=3395410 (would display a happy smiley face if the umount-to-usb was okay, sad smiley face if not, both if the umount happened a bit late) but I'm not sure if it still works.

Have you done a factory reset? I recommend a factory reset if there are any strange problems after restoring an image.

If you just want the reading status, you can use calibre and my Kobo Utilities plugin to copy the status to the calibre library and then back afterwards.

If you want rest of the stats, you need to take a copy of everything on the visible partition. Then, after the factory reset, you restore this and restart the device.

The factory reset seems to have solved the problem. My Clara connected to the PC without an error message.

My Clara arrived today, and I've spent 30 minutes searching for how to make this upgrade, so reading of yur issue and its resolution was very helpful, thank you!

CAn I just confirm that the steps outlined in the excellent tutorial worked for you on the Clara, with no alterations needed? I lack the manual dexterity to extract the internal card, so will be relying on a friend to help, and I want to make sure the process is as straightforward for the Clara as it seems to be for the Glo.

I used Win32DiskImager to do the imaging but the process should be the same. My clara was doing that error message with standard sd card. It appears to have stopped it now after the upgrade.

May I ask which micro SD card you chose? Have you seen significant improvement?

I upgraded my Clara HD with Samsung evo UHS-1 U3 64gb. Its loading speed is still slow. Do I need a factory reset?
