Why? It's totally worth talking about. But of course it is off topic, so I apologize for that.
BOT, here is a list of battery capacity from some popular devices.
This may help to compare different devices. You have to keep in mind, that other factors have to be considered (cpu, software, ppi), but it gives a rough estimation. The Oasis 2 has only 1.000 mAh, but I like that the battery charges very quickly. |

As far as the device I agree it needs to be replaced, that's a bad battery. It's a new device so they should replace it. Even if they send a refurbished device, I would take it. These devices still have new like batteries so chances are the refurbished will last much longer than the battery in the one you have now. I would go into the chat helpline. I find them to be helpful. I like to write things out and read each word they say. Then you have a record of what was said. You can always ask for a supervisor also. |

I think I fixed part of the charging issue.
I went to the movies Saturday came back and saw battery almost completely drained. Like what the heck??? I did the test to see if it was stuck indexing and it was not ![]() ![]() For the hundredth time I did a complete reset but this time I downloaded one book at a time instead of doing what I usually do which is going to the content and devices page on amazon, check mark every book and send to kindle so all my books auto-download. This time I took the slow way and downloaded each book one at a time manually. I also did not side load my custom fonts or try to download audibles. For some reason my battery life is now better. It is still abnormal like dropping 20% power a day and it still reboots itself automatically for no good reason but far better than 50%, 60% a day power loss I been having. |

I still think you need to find a way to exchange it. Battery loss is still too high (if you're getting a 20% loss when not reading) and the automatic rebooting is definitely not a good sign. Someone in your family (or one of your friends) should be able to receive it from Amazon and re-ship it to you with with your signature required.

I realize you've tried everything (more than once) but I would do the following if in your shoes: 1. Perform a factory reset. (as it was when new) 2. Download/transfer ONE book and one book only. Nothing else, no fonts, no Audible, etc. 3. Confirm the device is in airplane mode/wifi and bluetooth OFF and charged to 100%. 4. Read, observe and document findings (hours used, battery drain) for one week. I believe #2 is key here. This should narrow it down to whether or not the device is the problem. Just my .02$ but it is what I would do. |

Here is maybe a lifehack for the battery. I didn't think yet about attachment, but the main point is that the power bank width is the same as the one of device handle, and it lays in palm very easy and cozy, and you can charge and read at the same time

Unbelievable. How many page turns do you make per day(approximately, of course)? My battery gives me about 1500-1700 of them on a single charge with no front-light, about 1000-1200 on front-light 9-th level. This is with flight mode off. Turning it on(i.e. WiFi and cell off) makes it to drain about maybe 2-3 times slower, but even then it's about 3-4 days, not longer.

new Oasis battery life
Quote:
I’ve only read 2 books during this time so 900-1000 (total). Seems on par with what you’re getting, I’m just reading at a slower pace. My time is super limited, so I read when I can. I’m sure that’s the difference here. I’ve been reading a little this morning & it’s now at 54%. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Last edited by nikkisharif; 08-25-2018 at 11:35 AM. |
