Purchasing after sampling suggestion
I've been browesing the store and downloading a lot of samples (one of the reasons I got the kindle) and I've noticed something odd. When I decide to purchase a book after having read the sample, it doesn't take me to the last page I read from the sample when I open the full book. No, I have to sit there and page through until I find where I left off.
Am I the only person who finds this small lack of foresight irritating? Hopefully this gets changed in an update. I think I'm going to give Amazon some feedback. |

I feel the same. A minor irritation but one that should be easy to fix.

Feedback is good.
As a computer specialist, I'm sitting here thinking that it would be an interesting exercise to design the code that would set the last page read location in a newly purchased book. I think it might be easier if you buy using the link in the back of the sample. If you buy from the books description page -- whether through the web page or through the Kindle Store application in the Kindle -- it might be too much computation to review your history to determine whether you downloaded a sample at some time in the past. And, consider the situation where although you downloaded the sample, you didn't actually read it but went back and bought the book any way. In this case, the last-read page isn't pertinent. Yeah -- write to Amazon. They can solve the problem faster than I can, but I am having fun thinking about the possibilities. |

THis was brought up in another thread. The suggestion made was to not the location at the end of the sample. Then when you buy the book, just go to the menu, then "go to location" and type in the number. Presto... you are where you left of.
But, I also thought, aren't most of the samples a full chapter or two? Couldn't you use the TOC to get to the next chapter? But, yes it would be nice if they found a way to sync the purchased book with the location you left off with in the sample. BOb |

Most samples are several chapters. One sample I got (whose name I cannot remember right now) was only the front matter and the TOC. And, yes, the location number in the sample usually is the same location in the full book.
