Stop You're Killing Me (http://www.stopyourekillingme.com) is also quite good, but only for mysteries/thrillers, whereas Fantastic Fiction has other genres as well. In addition to reading order, SYKM also has lists of awards, series listed by protagonist rather than author, series set in various locales, etc. I use both a lot.

John D MacDonald's Travis McGee titles rarely go on sale, in the US, at least, where they are mostly insanely priced for old backlist at $11.99 and up. The Dreadful Lemon Sky is the 16th in the series, and has dropped to $2.99 at Kindle and Kobo US - grab it fast if you want it!

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Dreadful-Lemo...dp/B008WOTSH2/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the-dreadful-lemon-sky

Spoiler:
Quote:
From a beloved master of crime fiction, The Dreadful Lemon Sky is one of many classic novels featuring Travis McGee, the hard-boiled detective who lives on a houseboat.

Around four in the morning, Travis McGee is jarred awake by a breathless ghost from his past: an old flame who needs a place to stash a package full of cash. What’s in it for McGee? Ten grand and no questions asked. Two weeks later, she’s dead.

“The Travis McGee novels are among the finest works of fiction ever penned by an American author.”—Jonathan Kellerman

Carolyn Milligan was only aboard McGee’s boat for one night. She came to drop off a hundred grand for safekeeping. What Carrie really needed was someone to keep her safe. She said she’d be back in a month. Instead Carrie is killed in a dubious roadside accident. Now McGee is left with a fortune—and a nagging conscience.

So McGee takes a trip to the seedy little town of Bayside, Florida, to look into Carrie’s life before she showed up on his boat. What McGee finds only pushes him further into the corrupt world of drugs and blood that Carrie was trying to escape. McGee is used to high stakes, but when the bodies start piling up, even he may be in over his head.

The Crooked Spire is the 3rd in the John-the-carpenter series by Chris Nickson. It has dropped to $0.99 at Kindle and Kobo US (coupon/VIPable).

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Crooked-Spire...dp/B01M7M9RFS/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/crooked-spire-1

Spoiler:
Quote:
The first in a series of gripping murder mysteries set in 14th-century England1361: Orphaned by the Black Death, all John possesses are the tools that belonged to his father, a carpenter, and an uncanny ability to work wood. His travels bring him to Chesterfield, where he finds work erecting the spire of the new church. But no sooner does he begin, than the master carpenter is murdered and John himself becomes a suspect. To prove his innocence John must help the coroner in his search for the killer, a quest that brings him up against some powerful enemies in a town where he is still a stranger and friends are few. Chris Nickson brilliantly evokes the feeling of time and place in this story of corruption and murder.

“Few things are more convincing than Dick Francis at a full gallop.”—Chicago Tribune

Even better, the Calibre Import add-in has a template for fantasticfiction. Find the author, then import all or just one series. It attempts to number a series in order, though you may have to do a few manual edits to get the order exactly right. For those of us who borrow most of our reads. the Import and Overdrive add-ins are invaluable...

The Steel Valentine is a short story by Joe R. Lansdale, author of the Hap/Leonard series and a whole bunch of non-series titles. It is free right now at Kindle and Kobo US.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006DTH7CG/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the-steel-valentine

Spoiler:
Quote:
“Even before Morley told him, Dennis knew things were about to get ugly. A man did not club you unconscious, bring you to his estate and tie you to a chair in an empty storage shed out back of the place if he merely intended to give you a valentine. Morley had found out about him and Julie.”

A short story in the tradition of Fleming or Dahl, “The Steel Valentine” is a gem, exemplifying the suspense writing of Joe Lansdale.

Ransom Town is the 11th in the C.I.D. Room series by Roderic Jeffries. It is $0.99 as a US Kindle Countdown for approximately the next 5 3/4 days.

link: https://www.amazon.com/Ransom-Town-C...dp/B07DRH2SGT/

Spoiler:
Quote:
The letter was addressed merely to the Fortrow Gazette.

The contents of the letter were explicit: ‘The Organization For Social Equality needs money to help it fight for justice for the underprivileged. We’ll set a small fire to prove we’re in business, and then the price is a million pounds. Pay up fast or the fires get bigger, and after each one the bill doubles.’

At first there was doubt that the threat was genuine, but then the fires began and it was clear that Fortrow was being held to ransom. The police worked as hard as they could but made no progress and public alarm grew. Even Detective Inspector Fusil’s superiors began to doubt that he could be left, as he demanded, to go on desperately trying to identify the arsonist who might at any time precipitate an appalling tragedy...

I've kind of stopped posting Open Road price drops since most/all repeat on a frequent and semi-regular basis. However occasionally it seems worth it to post again. In this case, a huge chunk (17 titles) of the Brady Coyne series by William G Tapply has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US (coupon/VIPable). This looks to be most or all of the titles in this series that are now epub by Open Road.

Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/search?Qu...cmaxprice=3.99

The Saltergate Psalter is the 2nd in the John-the-carpenter series by Chris Nickson. It has dropped to £0.99 at Kindle UK.

link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Saltergate-...dp/B01491XI2W/

Spoiler:
Quote:
‘Chris Nickson works his usual magic, populating late medieval Chesterfield with characters that are clearly of their time and yet jump off the page, vibrant and familiar. The icing on the cake (or the jeweled cover on the exquisite psalter) – a fiendishly clever puzzle. Highly recommended!’ Candace Robb, author of the bestselling Owen Archer mysteries

1361: John the Carpenter, married and soon to become a father, has plenty of work to keep him busy in Chesterfield. But when an elderly man in the town is found murdered with no clue as to why, the coroner calls upon John’s mystery-solving expertise once again.

However, this is a crime where nothing is as it appears. When the suspected murderer is found dead and a valuable Book of Psalms vanishes, John is suddenly embroiled in a string of crimes that threaten his own life and the safety of his new family.
