Kovid, I just wanted to let you know... I haven't even received my Kindle 2 yet (due tomorrow) and I just finished downloading Calibri 5 minutes ago and I've already donated $10 to you on your website just based on your responsiveness to user requests in this forum. If Calibri is half as good as I think it's going to be based on what I'm seeing in this forum, I will be sure to visit your site again to leave another donation. Great work!

Thanks, the donation is much appreciated. In any case, adding Kindle 2 support to calibre only needed about 5 lines of code, since it seems to be very similar to the Kindle 1, so being responsive in this case was easy

Thanks so much for the amazingly quick response! My husband wandered off to work with my K2 today, so I am left without. As soon as he gets home I'll test it, but based on the comments between mine, I expect little difficulty.

Thanks again for such a great product!

Calibre 0.4.140 does not support the K2. Use the patched OS X build Kovid put out in comment 59.

Absolutely wonderful support, and great program all around. I was hoping to get to sleep early tonight, and no such luck because I'm playing with all the settings so I have something to read on the ride to work. > )

Do I need to get something from this thread in order to support my Kindle 2? Or am I good with the version I've got, v0.4.141? The Send to Device button is disabled on my system. And though I saw mention in this thread that you could use Save to Disk instead, wouldn't that save the book to my computer's hard disk? At least that's what I'd take that button to mean.

I'm having the same issue. However, using the Save to Disk button you can select your Kindle and it's internal memory as the disk to save to.

The Kindle 2 should show up when you plug it in if you have 4.141 (it takes a few seconds). If not, run calibre-debug -d and post the output here for kovid.

CheriePie- Does your Kindle show up on your PC as a USB drive? Some people are having problems getting their PC to detect the Kindle.
