So... the rotation code makes my brain hurt. I have a vague inkling of what may be going on (i.e., the device having gotten smarter), but I'm not quite sure how to handle that properly in KO...

I'll see if I can replicate something with a PW2, but this may be tricky

EDIT: What kind of orientation does the stock reader actually support? Only the two portrait variants, or can you switch to landscape, too?

@NiLuJe: Only the two portrait variants. The orientation does not automatically switch to landscape as I move the KOA2 around. Nor can I find anything in Settings to switch the orientation to landscape.

Of course, you could spare yourself some brain hurt and tell me to read right side up...

@downeaster59: And speaking of stuff switching orientation automatically, does moving the device upside down to put the butons on the left *once KOReader is up* actually do something? And if yes, is it as broken as when starting up that way?

EDIT: Historically, on devices without an accelerometer, the rotation stuff was somewhere around the Aa menu with margins & line spacing

Switching to landscape is built-in to the KOA2 reading app in the Aa menu under Page, Orientation. When not reading a book it returns to portrait.

@jhowell: Okay, so you technically can't really start KOReader in landscape mode, but the device can be put into it.

Once KOReader is up and running with buttons to the right, moving the device so that the buttons are to the left rotates the display - and everything continues to work as it should.

.

(There's a couple of different files all named device.lua, depending on which exact directory you're in once you hit koreader/device, so make sure you're overwriting the right one

).

I had figured it out just before your post - but it was good to know that my guess was good!

So, I overwrote the correct device.lua, I hope - (koreader/frontend/device/kindle/device.lua)

KOReader still works fine when I begin in "right side up" mode. But no change when I begin in "upside down" mode (buttons to the left). Same problems as before.
