I had followed the steps to install the latest "stable" version. So yeah, it works now that I updated. Thanks a lot. |

![]() I think this image can explain better the issue. https://www.dropbox.com/s/w30ydbqgn8...%2018.gif?dl=0 I renamed the vlasovsoft folder => reboot => rename vlasovsoft back => reboot. Now the reader doesn't come back from sleep mode to the upside down screen, but every time I launch vlasovsoft from KSM it goes upside down. ![]() I also tried moving the vlasovsoft folder to .adds but then KSM won't recognize the version or something like that. Regards, Rafa |

I just installed KSM 9 on my new KA1, everything went OK from what I can tell. I disabled auto WIFI and USBNet, to have faster boot and I usually don't need it for day to day usage.
Only thing at the moment is, KSM starts with small user interface, is there option to start it with full user interface (now I toggle it first, maybe later I wouldn't need that at all, but at the moment I choose to do this). Excellent job tshering, as usual. Thank you very much. EDIT: just checked, with small interface vlasoft's package isn't available, to access it you need to have full user interface (I have koreader and vlasoft's package added). You possibly have to reboot after changing the location in order to make it work. But you can leave vlasovsoft where it is. If you leave it in .kobo, all that can happen is that it disappears when you sign out of your Kobo account. Last edited by tshering; 06-29-2018 at 01:07 PM. |

So, you advise me to have USBNet running? As all works, I guess I wouldn't have need for some emergency, or maybe everything later can go horribly wrong? |

This is something that everybody has to decide for himself. Your decision might depend on how often you install new (versions) of software and test some things out, how comfortable you are in opening the device (if it has an internal sd at all), whether you think you can factory reset your device without having access to nickel, etc.

Well, I'm not that much into experimenting, more into using my device for reading. And if something works, I usually don't fix it.
Even koreader I don't install every new nightly, I stay for a pretty long time with working version. I track what's going on with development, and install only if there's something really useful to me. |

I was thinking about buying kobo h2o2 for reading pdfs, as far as I understand koreader makes pdf experience quite better even on medium size screen. But first post mentions thats KSM is not fully working and touch is a problem. I've skimmed through discussion and there is not much clarification about if or when this might be ironed out. Could you comment on this, nothing concrete just an opinion.

Currently, I am a rather busy with other things, and there seems to be not much demand for KSM. But once someone expresses that he would like to have KSM for one of the yet unsupported devices and is willing to test it, I will prepare an updated version. |

I have to comment this.
I think that in general there's relatively few people who go to some other software beyond what's shipped with their device. Also, from those who do want something more, I guess that most of them, maybe 95%, or even more go with KSM (if they use Kobo, of course). And, as you have great instructions in first post, there's not that much need to explain for anyone what to do and how. Before few days I installed KSM 9 on my KA1, it went smoothly, works great and all in all, many people go today with KA1 for many reasons. And KSM 9 works just fine. Only new devices need some work to be done. So, I think KSM is very much in demand, but from more experienced users. And, KSM is certainly great software, I'm sure if rest of people who uses exclusively nickel just see koreader, would want to start using KSM/koreader combo. |
