Err, that was me forgetting to hit the spacebar, no worries .

So, stupid question time: is there still a battery in the sleeve or something weird with a semi-external battery like there was on the first Oasis?

No, there's no external battery. I assume those results are my mac charging it over the usb? Maybe?

ETA: I realize what you're getting at now (again, post-shift brain). It won't read as charging unless it's plugged into something. They took out the charging case battery and made the battery bigger inside on this generation

@7hir7een: Yep, which leads me to my next test, self-contained because you've already suffered through enough reboots for me .

So, this package is a KUAL extension. It'll add a "Test KOA2 stuff" button in the "Helper" menu.

It should print the result of the tests at the bottom of the screen, like on my PW2 (where the second test is blank, because it doesn't exist, yay!).

The idea is to run it while you're unplugged, to see which value I can trust .

@7hir7een: Aha! the first one is reading nothing and not 0 (probably because the file doesn't exist anymore).

And, of course, I was testing for that one being equal to zero for my check...

I'll push a build with a fixed test .

@7hir7een: Yaaaay!

Thank you very, very much for your patience and your willingness to deal with my failed attempts, because it's the kind of issue that's incredibly irritating to debug without access to the device...

Next step: sleep! .

Thank you very much for working out something functional for the KOA2s!

I know there's probably an extremely small population of jailbroken users for this device, so I very very much appreciate your being willing to devote the time/effort despite that!

This should at least keep the reboots to a minimum -- really, if I never see that bright-light tree-boy reboot screen again it will be too soon

Less than 200 jb koa2 devices -
or
Less than 200 jail breakers of koa2 devices.

The first if each user who requested the files only jail breaks a single device.
I have a list somewhere, kept it just in case everyone had to be notified of something good, bad, ugly or urgent.

NiLuJe pointed out to me that with a bit of effort we could "fix up" the ADB On/Off search bar commands for those firmware versions where they are messed up.
At least if Lab126 could just get consistent with how they break things from version to version.

With that "enhancement" it would become less of a risk to test new and/or untested things on the KOA2.
(I do have one, it was a gift, I am not in a hurry to risk it with firmware meddling and no way to rescue it from errors / problems.)

FYI everything appears good in 5.9.6 also -- including the font hack. It seems to play nice with the new custom font option, if you were curious

When I found i had 2 kual, i try to reset my kindle oasis 1, and then use kindle-jailbreak .
But "K5 JailBreak (5.0.x - 5.4.4.2) | kindle-jailbreak-1.15.N-r15035.tar.xz" failed, it was rejected by the kindle OS- invalid image.
I use the 5.9.6 version.
(before upgrade to 5.9.6, the kindle-jailbreak-1.15 can work in 5.9.4, but jailbreak-1.14 failed.)

So now i can't use the kual and KoReader.
