KSM 09 installs correctly on the device, however:

touch does not seem to work

wifi outside of nickel does not seem to work either

I'll copy the koreader and vlasovsoft directories from my Glo HD over to the .adds of the Clara and see if i can boot into KOReader

Could you please try to activate wifi from nickel and then connect via the webinterface (see here). The webinterface server shuts down one minute after start, if there is no request. Taking into account that nickel is started only after 20 to 30 secs, and KSM might waste some time trying to establish wifi and usbnet, there might be a time problem. If it is really a problem, we could modify adds/kbmenu/scripts_intern/div/killautormcatsomepoint.sh.

Is it easy to take the sd out and put it in again? Or is there some risk to do some harm?

I can connect to WiFi within nickel, but have not been able to do so via KSM.
I'll see if i can modify that.

EDIT: i'm in.

The back off the Clara isn't the best to remove, it reminds me of the inner cover of the mini (minus the screws), but i've put a micro SD to SD card adaptor in it, which is on a thin ribbon cable, so i can easily access the memory.

Hi! I've tried to install KSM on Kobo Aura One. It is there, everything seams fine (I did it to be able use Koreader, which works fine, Coolreader is fine as well).

One annoying problem: I can't start original environment: when I've selected Nickel from the menu, it is not going there, it is trying to install update (( I press lower or higher - same effect, it is always trying to execute previous or next item from menu.

How to get Nickel? Please help.

What exactly do you mean by saying "it is trying to install update"?

I believe you have to handle the update before you can go into nickel

Speaking of handling updates, Tshering, what can i change within the code to automatically handle updates? there's one waiting for me and i'd like to apply it.
Since I have the rmc web interface working, if i could do it through there, that'd be great as well.

It is going to previous item in menu (which is update) or to the next item. It looks like nickel is disabled.

Please select "handle update", and then "KR install controlled". But do it only if your battery is sufficiently charged. Then wait until the reader restarts (this will take some time, do not worry), and you see the KSM menu again.

I am not sure how an update can wait for you, and you are still able to get into nickel. However you do it, for the following I assume that in .kobo there is

• KoboRoot.tgz
• manifest.md5sum
• upgrade (folder)

If you are not able to get into nickel (because KSM asks you to handel the update), rename KoboRoot.tgz to KoboRoot2.tgz. But then you have to change the name also in the command lines below. It occurs three times (not counting the one occurrence in the answer "KoboRoot.tgz installed").

Let us start:
# kill nickel by pressing the button "exit nickel"
# kill KSM by pressing the button "kill KSM"

#General note: to execute a command, copy the text into the text input field and press the button "execute"

# install KoboRoot.tgz

tar ztf "/mnt/onboard/.kobo/KoboRoot.tgz" > /dev/null && tar zxf /mnt/onboard/.kobo/KoboRoot.tgz -X $ksmuser/excludefiles/KR_install_controlled.txt -C / && ( cat /usr/local/Kobo/revinfo >> /usr/local/Kobo/install.log; echo "KoboRoot.tgz installed" ) || echo "failed"

wait a bit and then press "reboot"

Edit: An alternative would be to rename the folder kbmenu_user to something, so that KSM does not interfer, let the update install; rename the folder to kbmenu_user, and install the KoboRoot.tgz from KBStartMenu_09_restore.zip (find it in the first post).

At this time I feel like I can't thoroughly assess how well Koreader performs on the Clara, as touch functionality does not work yet. I believe it inherits this from KSM, right?

For now I'd like to focus on KSM

Tshering: the commands worked. I was not able to go back to nickel without deleting the update from the SD card. now i'm on 4.8.11090 (5/10/18)

Is there some other/faster way to speak to you? I use Telegram for most communication, IRC I can do too. my timezone is GMT +2
