@Latepaul, how comfortable is it to hold the Kobo Clara with that official Kobo case on it? I normally support the reader in my hand from the bottom. Thanks!

latepaul, Thanks for the pictures. How do you find the microUSB port? Does the plug fit in firmly? Also, may I see your .kobo/version (remove the serial number before you post it) and your .kobo/affiliate.conf?

For those who want to use the night mode hack with Clara HD, or the other two SLL CPU based devices, a new version of the hack is needed. This has been done and I have posted details in the night mode hack thread.

Ok obviously this is subjective but I find it quite comfortable. It's a bit heavier and thicker obviously. To be fair, for various reasons I haven't yet had a long reading session with it so bear that in mind.

The cover is one of those 'snap-in' plastic back, with cut out for power button and usb port access and a flip-over cover (like a notepad). So it's really designed to stay on most/all the time. So if it did becomes uncomfortable on longer use I might consider selling it on and getting a sleeve instead, because you can't just take it off and on quickly. But I'm not anticipating that at the moment.

It's fine. It's just a standard microUSB port.

It's good to know that button technology has moved on from my clicky kindle. Perhaps I should look at an ereader with physical buttons if my h2o breaks. Kindle oasis?

I hope that Kobo might make a device that's IR or has buttons in future. I'm a bit disappointed that the Clara sounds like it wouldn't work for me, but I live I hope that a model announced nearer Christmas might.

And the upgrade check result doesn't seem to make much sense:

It returns the update URL for 4.8.10956, which is older than the version shipped on the device ... No known affiliate (every one I know about) or original version (I usually use 0.0 to get the latest update, but I tried with every version) seems to return 4.8.11090.

Nobody is deleting images and they haven't for a long time. It would be helpful to report a post with an oversize image so a mod can fix it within the post and others won't be annoyed by the effects on thread display, rather than snarking.

The battery seems smaller, did they reduce the capacity from 1500mAh ?

EDIT: I think it just looks smaller because of the exposed circuit board.
