Hello: I've upgraded my Kobo Aura 2013 to Firmware 4.8.11073. So far, no library or collection information lost, all ebooks and library data intact I do note some lag (10 seconds or so) when I switch from current reading to the Home screen; some lag also to reach the Search engine from the Home screen or vice versa. Mind you, I'm writing a few minutes after the upgrade, so that response time might change... What I do like a lot are the tiles at the home screen, specially so the tiles for collection or author related to current reading. Also, the library now has many very useful options and filters to find books according to their reading status, author and so forth. The Collections (and I have 343 collections ) are way more fast to reach than on my previous firmware 3.19.5613 installation, so that is an improvement. Reading progress info, changing pages, reading configuration (font, spacing), table of contents, sleepcover function: all of that is working OK and there are no problems that I could detect. When I get a better feel of reading and general ereader experience, I might post some more. So far, so good... Kind regards, INCANUS Last edited by Incanus; 05-31-2018 at 05:56 PM. Is there anyway to adjust the time format? After updating, time displayed is now 24 hr format. I don't see any settings. I tried searching in ereader.conf but couldn't find it. Forum search did not show any useful results as well. |

Oh, really! They made 24h the default? I like it! Also makes sense now they're all over Europe. It's a locale setting in the config file (or it used to be anyway). I changed mine to en_GB or something I think to get it to display 24h. Maybe en_US will turn it back to 12h for you? ('en' being the language...) | |

Sorry my mistake. I was thinking of the Time and Date setting, that was London UK. Looking in .kobo > kobo > kobo eReader.conf I find the setting was [ApplicationPreferences] CurrentLocale=en_US ----------that gave a 12 hour clock Changed it to: [ApplicationPreferences] CurrentLocale=en_GB ----------this gives a 24 hour clock (after restarting) |

Hello: After a couple of Calibre 3.24.2 syncs (no problems whatsoever) and a few turn-off / turn-on cycles, I'll report that, having +11K e-books on a 32Gb Class 4 uSD SanDisk Card, organized on +340 collections, my Kobo Aura 2013 experience on Firmware 4.8.11073 is as follows:
Arguably, the lag time might be explained because I have a huge library of either e-books or Collections on an Aura 2013 hardware. I do enjoy the look and feel of the interface and the library features of this firmware, so I'm not planning on downgrading to a previous firmware... unless someone is aware of a 4.* version that works with no lag on an Aura 2013 housing a library such as mine... Kindly yours, INCANUS |

I just updated to this version from an old version from last summer. Is the font weight options gone in this release? I cannot find it anymore. :S

Still there and still in the same place. However if you are looking to adjust the weight of sideloaded fonts, you'll have to apply the patches. See the patch thread in the Kobo Developers forum.

I think I may have found a bug with this firmware version, having to do again with reading stats. In my case at least, reading stats for a single book are recorded correctly while the book is being read, and the overall reading stats for the device are also updated accordingly; but when I try accessing the reading stats of a book I already finished, I will get zeros all over the page, almost as if with the book marked as read, all of the stats for that book reset themselves automatically. IIRC that didn't use to be the case with previous firmware versions (of course before the one that broke reading stats completely). I should specify that this applies at least to sideloaded .kepubs, and that none of the books I've marked as read on the device, even before updating to this firmware, have reading stats anymore. The overall reading stats, as I said, are fine. Last edited by mathil; 06-06-2018 at 09:52 AM. |
