I don't usually post things at $4.99, and I'm not a fan of this author, but I noticed that the most recent (2018) Lincoln Rhyme title by Jeffrey Deaver, The Cutting Edge, has dropped to $4.99 at BN as their Daily Find, and it's price-matched at Kobo and Kindle US. If you are a fan of this author/series, this is not a totally horrible price for a very new title - eReaderIQ shows it normally at $14.99! The price has actually been down for a few days, so I'd grab it fast if you want it...

Curious - I got it four years ago (same cover etc.) from Kindle when it was free - but then there were THIRTY titles, not the current Twenty Eight. I wonder which two they axed: I'm certainly not going through both lists to find out!!

From a knowledgeable reviewer on Amazon:

The two missing stories, both early ones by the great Dashiel Hammett, are "Arson Plus" and "The Assistant Murderer," presumably removed for copyright reasons. (I notice the "Dashiel Hammett Megapack" has also been removed from the Kindle Store.)

As the detective chief inspector was very quick to point out, the two cases were obviously quite straightforward...

The fire that had killed Mrs Selby must have been accidental, and the beating-up of an old lag had occurred during some perfectly ordinary strong-arm tactics.

But Detective Inspector Fusil of Fortrow C.I.D. refused to accept the obvious, and he and Detective Constable Kerr stubbornly sought proof that Mrs Selby had been murdered and that the beating-up was in some way connected with a one-time villain who was, they claimed, being blackmailed back into a life of crime...
