I think it weighs a bit over a third of the Mini's weight of 4.75 ounces. So you'll notice it. (Specs say 1.44 ounces, but I think that must be without the AA battery.) I find myself holding the Mini more towards the middle to compensate for the weight but, once I get reading, I don't really notice it.

rcentros, another thank you.

Just got the mini in the mail this week from the ebay seller you mentioned. Looks completely new and unused.

Love this little ereader! Backed up the microsd card to a Samsung Evo select, and upgraded the firmware to (patched) version 4.6.10075. Very clear screen, easy to read, quite fast with a medium sized sideloaded (Calibre) library ~800 epubs.

Really pleased.

Got my Mini in the mail today. The device is in good condition despite a minor scratch on the screen. It doesn't detract from the reading experience and at this price point, I'm not complaining.

It's light as a feather and feels great in the hands. I really like the out-of-the-box Pocket integration. This saves me the chore of having to convert my Pocket articles to ePub in order to read on my Nook.

I'm happy to hear that. I took mine to the beach (Galveston) and finished two books this week. I'm getting to really like it.

I'm curious, what device's software did you patch for your Mini? I'm happy with my firmware release, but I'm always curious how I could update it (if I wanted to). (And, you know, at some point I'll have to try it.)

I'm sorry about the scratch on the screen. (I just realized, I've got a Sony T1 with a scratch on the screen and the only time I notice it is if I purposely look for it.)

I was surprised at how light the Mini was when I got mine. I haven't tried Pocket, but I think I will sign up for an account.

I hope it works out for you. And I hope the seller comes up with some more of them – although the "other" Niagra Falls seller seems to have the same ones for $4 more.

This one: 4.6.10075 from Kobo Firmware Releases (Mark IV)

The only issue with this release on the Mini I've experienced is a black bar on the bottom of the WIFI settings screen, when I went to delete. No issues so far with reading or navigating the library. I might try a newer version at some point, but for now this one is working fine. The patches are worth applying, you might want to try these to enhance the mini:

- patches libnickel.so.1.0.0.patch
+ custom left and right margins
+ freedom to advanced fonts control
+ ePub fixed/adjustable top/bottom margins
+ Changing the info panel in full size screensaver (lower left corner)
- librmsdk.so.1.0.0.patch
+ Disable orphans/widows avoidance
+ Ignore ePub book Adobe XPGT stylesheet (page-template.xpgt)
- nickel.patch
+ Custom reading footer style
+ Increase The Cover Size In Library
+ Increasing The View Details Container
+ New home screen increasing cover size

Just got got my kobo mini from shopgoodwill and I love the size and the lightness of it. I used it today while taking the kids out to the mall and the kobo mini would fit easily in my pant/shirt pocket. I also got a Sony PRS-350 from shopgoodwill so I'm all set to do some serious (well may not too serious) reading while out and about this summer. When reading while out in public "mini" e-reader have a definite advantage over regular ereaders in terms of portability, lightnesss and ease of use.

Thanks! I don't know if I'm going to try it, but at least I'll know how to do it if I want to. I didn't realize the Minis could use Mark 4 firmware.

I was surprised and impressed by the size and weight of the Mini. I like the Sony PRS-350 quite a bit, but now it almost feels "big." I think the Mini is going to get a LOT of use just because of its size. Like you, I just stick it in my shirt pocket when I'm reading. I keep it in a pouch when not using it.

I wish Kobo (or someone) would come up out with a new 5" reader – just so the format doesn't die.

More up for now at least. Not sure how long they've been up this time and don't know how long they'll last.

I caved, got one for mom. Hoping it has a better screen than the EZReader Pocket Pro, and lighter. Did anyone get a cover/case for theirs?

I've seen these on eBay, but wasn't sure about the quality. The one thing cheap, "leather-like" cases tend to do is stain white eReaders with their dye. But I guess that's better than breaking it. Right now I'm just carrying my Mini in a "way too big" Belkin "Verge" case made for Kindle and Kobo Touches. When I read I just go "case-less."
