I pre-ordered the free book that Trevor linked to and I'm assuming it qualifies.

What I hate about these types of promos is that Audible doesn't tell you up front if your purchase qualifies. By the time you receive or don't receive notification as to whether or not you qualified, the promo is already over and it's too late to correct any errors on your part.

To maximize the value of this deal, you would want to try to select the most expensive two audiobooks that you would be interested in. Just for kicks (I lead a real dull life. ahhahah), I searched for the most expensive audiobook that Christianaudio.com sells--it is $165.00! And that's the "member price"! On the other hand, there are a lot of audiobooks that are less than $10 any day, especially if you are a ChristianAudio member.

One hint before I go: under some of the books there is a light green button that says "Get Free." You might want to ignore those, and click somewhere else connected with the books that have that button. Reason being, clicking on "Get Free" automatically adds a trial membership to your shopping cart.

Referring to "What, Wait?" . . . . if you want to save 99 cents, you can listen to it on YouTube. It looks like there are several different iterations, showing Dr. Ryan from different angles. No doubt there is a wide range of sound qualities, too.

I couldn't find where Dr. Ryan ever did a TED talk. That's a mystery.

The offer is not "pick out any two audiobooks with a total price of $30 or more, and you get the audiobooks for $30, less $10 off (or, $20)" (too good to be true). The offer is "buy two books with a total price of $30 or more, and you get $10 off" (an offer that's easily believable).

There is a huge difference in the two scenarios. In the first, you could pick out two audiobooks of $165 (as the one that I mentioned) each, and since that is over $30, you would get both for $20. In the second scenario, you buy two audiobooks, whose total is $30 or more, and you get $10 off."

How you would maximum the value of the deal, as it really is, is to buy two books, with a total price as close to $30 as you could, without going under $30. With a lot of looking around on ChristianAudio.com's website, you probably could find two audiobooks for a total of $30, or just over that amount; therefore, each one of the audiobooks would be $10 each, or just over that amount.

If you tried the first scenario, you would find out the truth at checkout. I hope that no one ended up doing that, however (I had gotten close).

My opinion and advice now: The deal is just mediocre, and too labor-intensive, what with having to look for the right combination of books to get a total of $30. My advice: skip it--there are better things to do with your time (watch the grass grow, watch paint dry, etc.).

I got the pun, and it's a funny one. That title is strange--I guess that I'll have to listen to the audio in order to find out what he's talking about.

But, to take your statement at face value, it gives me the opportunity to mention something that some MobileReaders might appreciate. There is no waiting necessary; it's on YouTube. Besides, Dr. Ryan would have to crunch what he wanted to say into "15-18 minutes." If I wanted a summary of what he thinks, I could get SumoReads' summary of his speech.

Besides, the people behind the TED talks might not be informed enough, have enough sense, or believe in his values (enough) to ever to ask Dr. Ryan to make a talk. That's assuming that he has not been invited before, but turned it down.

Something that I found odd . . . . I tried your link before cancelling. My Chrome browser showed (down in the left corner) that it was about to navigate to an Audible webpage with an URL that had "Audible.com" and then a long string of letters and numbers (the URL that you linked to); however, the browser opened up to Audible's homepage (Audible.com). I tried a second time, same thing happened. After I canceled, I tried once again, same result.
