Oh, get this. When the semi tried to bash my brains in, I had tons of groceries that were destroyed. 48 cans of soda exploded. Bottles of chili sauce ditto. Two bags of rock salt .... all over the place.

The truck company's insurance provider says they don't cover any "consumables" because I was going to use them. The fact that I never got the opportunity to use them is of no concern to them. They're just not covered.

I mean really .... what kind of asshole logic is that???

So, perhaps it's time to start being mean, Ricky. Maybe even threaten to sue them. (You may not need to carry out the threat. Just make it clear that you can argue for much longer than they can, and that you are a woman who does not give up.)

oh yep, i think it's time to take the gloves off. what kind of idiotic backwards logic is that ??? "we won't pay for the consumables that you will never be able to consume through our fault, and which you will have to replace at considerable expense in order to consume them, which is the reason you bought them in the first place, because you were intending to consume them" ???? what ???? time to put on the lawyer hat !

Hm. If you identify either the truck company (if they're national) or the insurance co, we might be able to start an MR boycott....

This is really quite unbelievable, though. I imagine they want to buy you off with some amount for "pain and suffering." (When I got rear-ended a number of years ago, the insurance company gave me $500 for a bump on my head.) Seems to me that there's plenty of pain and suffering involved in having to re-supply yourself with all these groceries.

Well, the insurance company is AIG ... bunch of morons.

I am taking the gloves off. I was going to go easy on them with regard to some of the non-consumables that were damaged (like my laptop, and my Garmin, and my iPhone .... I had everything with me except my Kindle), and I was going to be nice about all the missed work.

Not no more. I'm cataloging all of the projects/hours I've worked over the last few weeks (before this happened). By my estimate, I'd say they are going to be about $30,000 in the hole to me when it's all totaled up ... and that's not including my car.

You know, it's money I might have actually walked away from if they had been even the tiniest bit nice to me ... but they act like it's all my fault for driving down the highway, at the speed limit, going the correct direction. And .... gee, was I supposed to lick all that soda pop off the road??

No .... they want to act like complete dicks, then I'm going to give them a glance at how much freaking money I can actually make when I'm not drugged senseless or in pain.

Saw the doctor again today. They x-rayed me from head to toe, and gave me a handful of new meds (including muscle relaxants) and a shot in the butt. It is killing me to type, so I'm going to go take some more Vicodin and log off for the present.

you tell em ricky, don't let them treat you that way. my god, you could have been killed ! it's shameful the way they are acting. i'm not a fan of excessive litigation but this is one case where i think they are really asking to be sued for all they're worth. sheesh, they could at least have the human decency to replace your groceries without making you beg (or sue) !!!
