I think this is the thread that talked about late deliveries. I have another two packages that are going to be late. They were suppose to have been delivered yesterday by 8 pm, but I got the delivery update email yesterday at 8:01 pm saying that they had been delayed and if I don't get them by Wednesday at 8 pm, contact an Amazon rep and maybe they would look into it.

It's being shipped via AMZL US, which I believe means it's was shipped to a the local Amazon warehouse and then given to independent contractors who drive their cars around and get paid per delivery.

@pwalker: I don't think those independent deliveries were a very good idea for Amazon. Personally I would rather have occasionally 3 days delivery, but guaranteed (weather allowing). My choices are only UPS or most often USPS. Once this winter a package was late due to a big snow storm.

I agree with you. I would at least like the option of selecting the delivery company. I think two things are driving it (so to speak), first cost reduction and second Sunday delivery/Same Day delivery/local delivery. They use the same thing for the Whole Food delivery (i.e. independent contractor using his or her personal car). I don't mind it for the Whole Food since it's really not that different from what we have been doing for pizza delivery for years, but I'm not as keen on using it for package delivery.

I order coffee from a local company and get it delivered via Fed Ex, usually the next day.

I wish Amazon would allow me to opt out of a Sunday delivery. Those are the ones that almost always get screwed up by my post office. I don't think I've ever had a scheduled Sunday delivery from anyone but the PO.

You can. At least, I did. You can opt out of Saturday and/or Sunday deliveries. I opted out of Sunday.

My last order had three "free" options. Sunday, Monday or a week later (with $1 digital credit). I've also had Amazon upgrade later delivery dates to Sunday too though. For me it's all good I've had one item arrive late in the last year. That was a USPS delivery and not totally surprising since we happen to be on a USPS training route.

Last night we had a hankering for some particular David Tennent Dr. Who episodes. Checked Netflix, checked Hulu, no luck. TOTALLY forgot to check Prime until a friend reminded me, and sure enough, they were all included with Prime. So I don't use Prime video a lot, but it's nice that it's there.
We're set to renew before June 16th at the current rate, so we're definitely going another year. Next year, as we see how many stores offer competitive prices and shipping, and we see how the streaming services shake out, we'll reevaluate.
But, honestly, we use the free two day shipping so much, we'd need a real reason to drop it.

I believe Prime has exclusive streaming rights to the series.

How to avoid the Amazon Prime price increase and keep paying $99 a year

I plan to gift myself one year. I did it the last time the price was raised.

Guess what day my Prime payment for the year is scheduled - June 16th!

Can somebody who has a renewal date later than June 16th check and see what your payment is supposed to be? Mine says it's still $99, so I'm wondering if the new amount is showing up.
