For people wanting to know the accuracy of the To Read Time stats: it's perfectly accurate. Today I hit a chapter for which the KA1 (on firmware 4.6.9995) estimated exactly an hour of reading time. I read the chapter, and it did take me exactly one hour (and two minutes to put up some water and pour a cup of coffee). It is -only- accurate if stats are working and recording though, so the reading can calculate your average reading speed over time. If it can't due to broken or disabled stats, it just uses 'some' average that never changes, which in my case, is too fast as I take more time than the TRT estimates.
I have a little different experience, currently using 4.6.9995firmware. I have reading stats turned on and it's very inaccurate as far as showing how many hours I've spent reading but seems to be fairly accurate for calculating the amount of time it will take me to finish a book. For the book I'm currently reading--at 75% complete, it shows 2 hours remaining which seems about right to me. But it shows that I've spent 34.7 hours reading for the current book, which is wildly overstated. It also shows that I've spent a total of 1586 hours reading on my KA1 since I last did a factory reset--probably about a year ago. That would mean I've spent about 4.5 hours each and every day for the last year reading on my KA1. Unfortunately, I don't have that much time to spend reading--and making that number even more preposterous is the fact that I spend about half my reading time reading on my Kindle Voyage and about half on the KA1.

I will upgrade to the latest firmware eventually--when I have a little bit of time to install the firmware and the patches I use. Curious to see the new quick page flip option work and to see if prior reading stats are more accurately reported.

@dordale: Do you have a sleep cover?

That would explain why you are seeing reading times that are much higher than normal, because sometimes, the KA1 doesn't go to sleep when the cover is closed; not even when using the official cover. I regularly (once ever two weeks or so) I find my KA1 almost drained of battery, and a claim that I've been reading a book for 15 hours straight.

Katsunami--I do have a sleep cover. This could be part of the problem, but I've never noticed my KA1 not going to sleep or large unexplained battery drain times. Also as I mentioned earlier the time left to read is always reasonable, even though the time already read is way overstated.
Sometime, I may try turning off the sleep cover option in settings to see if this makes the time spent reading more accurate. But, frankly, I don't care too much, as long as the time to read is accurate and I really appreciate the sleep cover functionality.

If you are reading books from Kobo and syncing, then doing a factory reset won't completely wipe the time spent reading. Some of this is synced to Kobo and will be brought back from there. Or at least it used to I did do a sign-out on one of my devices recently, so I'll check what is on them tonight.

And for the discussion on the cover, if you also have the sleep timeout configured, even if something happens that the cover doesn't trigger the sleep, then this should. And that time will get counted as reading time for the book. So, if you have the sleep timer set to 60 minutes and rely on that, you get an extra hour in each reading session.

Regarding the factory reset and reading stats--all of my books have been sideloaded and aside from registering my KA1, it's been in airplane mode continuously so no syncing statistics from the Kobo website.

Good point on sleep timeout--I do have it set up to timeout after 10 minutes, so I would at most get 10 extra minutes per reading session--no way for that to add up to the amount of reading time my Kobo shows.

My Glo HD did its OTA update and I love the Page Flip, which just might be sufficient reason to give up the old homescreen (it also would be nice to be able to access OverDrive on the Aura One). However, it'll wait on my revamping the books on my devices, as I've got only epubs on the two running the old firmware.
