je suis bien d'accord ! and another person wrote to second the request for Léo Malet, so with a little luck perhaps i won't have to wait as long as i feared... anyway he did say they are already working on them, even if those will not be the first releases. good news !

Yes. And it's good news for french ebooks in general.

I have piles of books published by Laffont, that means I could replace those by ebooks.

LIbraries & Bookshelves

I'm in the Chicagoland suburbs.

My local library used to have a book sale just before the famous Brandeis tent sale. Since they remodeled they now have special shelves for a year round booksale.

The smaller library nearer my commuter train station has limited hours, but volunteers take the books that they cannot use, and rubberstamp them with Friends of the -- Library, then put them on a shelf inside the station to reduce boredom among the riders.

Not meaning to start anything, but what is the proper way to get rid of p-books once you've scanned them? I've done about 50 and now I feel wedded to the hard copies for all eternity! I can't bear to destroy them, especially the old favorites, but if I sell or give them away, haven't I created a situation where two copies can be read simultaneously, but the author has only received payment for one? I've been keeping my eyes open, but have never seen this exact question addressed here.

That's what I was afraid of. It is really embarrassing to admit that I went to all the trouble of scanning the things when I can't even claim I'm saving space...

I found that the local hospital has a library which is happy to accept donations. Also local shelters for the homeless. I've also given some to the library at a centre for elderly people.

I don't know, seems like for me to give them away would have the same problems as selling them, from the copyright standpoint. And, as stated in my first post, I can't really stand the idea of destroying perfectly good books. But those seem to be the only alternatives to sitting on them forever.

PS. I never had all these moral dilemmas before I started hanging out here. Darn you, Mobileread!
