Hi guys, does anyone know if you can view and edit ms word doc or docx on the note? Does it allow you to make notes with stylus as you would with PDF and what is the performance like?

So many questions I know but thanks in advance!

If it is anything like the experience on the Max2, it will have

Almost unusable latency
Erase function using the stylus works only on the last draw, not on previous ones
The drawing function itself stops and starts randomly

Kingsoft Office (or WPS); very probably the German ones which also do fonts (Softmaker?); I suppose several other.

The browser experience is surprisingly good on the native browser. Haven't tried any others yet.

Reading web articles is not a problem. It's actually quite pleasurable.

In A2 mode, it is even possible to watch videos on YouTube. Of course, the experience pales in comparison to watching videos on a tablet, but it is possible to do if needed.

Possible is an interesting word. It is possible to use the flexible E Ink Mobius with a glass front and then use a Front light but the weight advantage would be lost. (Personally I think this would be a good tradeoff.) Many vendors depend on E Ink themselves to supply the full screen including the front light and they no longer list front lights for 9.7" screens even though they have made them in the past. The way a front light works is to place the LED lights on the edge of a light guide and depend on uniform distribution. Some people already complain when the light isn't exactly uniform and then gets much more difficult as screen sizes increase. I do think that most of these problems can be overcome with current offerings possibly with lights on several edges instead of just one. But again uniform light is the goal.

I agree it would be a good tradeoff, although I don’t know if the glass would be quite as good for note taking, if it furthered the distance of the display to the pen. I thought I read this is why the three major note takers all have mobius screens. Though I’m not sure.

And a glass could be broken. I afraid of this with my M92. We can see (very) small difference between the two Max (with and without) the capacitive touch, so E-ink screen + glass + ..., I'm curious about a such display.

I can’t comment on the sturdiness of the latest devices, but I did own what I think was the first flexible 6” ereader, and after flexing it to breaking point and taking it apart, it was rather unreassuringly made, that is, simply glued together.

So although flexible devices are theoretically sturdy, I’m not convinced.

True, but most of the time it is the substrate glass that is broken, not the front glass. The front glass can be make fairly rugged, which is why it makes sense to use a flexible substrate even with a glass front cover.

Received my Note today and the package included the cover. Looks nice, has a good rubbery grip on front and back side.

Hadn't used my original Max in ages to surf the web, so I thought I would try it out to answer your question. Found it a bit annoying for several reasons:

1. Had to use the stylus to scroll as there is no capacitive touch layer on the original Max. When scrolling down a long page, plastic sliding along plastic is just not a very pleasant sensation. When drawing or taking notes, one usually doesn't make such long strokes so one does not notice it as much.

2. There was a fair bit of flashing as the page loaded and each time it refreshed when scrolling.

3. Some photographs on a regular news site didn't load.

Then I tried the exact same sites with the Note and it was a much more pleasurable process. Scrolling with a finger was very smooth and pages loaded quickly with a minimum of flashing. Having the virtual page up/down buttons also made navigating up and down a page quick and effortless. All the photos on the news site loaded quickly.

Although I wouldn't really want to watch many videos on either device, I went on to YouTube to see what the difference in experience would be. Curiously, the sound quality was better on the original Max than on the Note on which the sound quality was somewhat choppy. However, on the Note, the video was actually viewable in A2 mode whereas it wasn't on the original Max.

All in all, I wouldn't be inclined to surf the web much on the original Max. However, on the Note, it is quite possible to do so.
