Finished reading The Mad Wolf's Daughter by Diane Magras. A novel aimed at children, it is well-written and doesn't candy-coat the issues the protagonist has to deal with.

This is a freshman novel, and I look forward to seeing what the author brings out next.

Now on to the final Frontlines book (that has been published just this year, it appears), Points of Impact by Mark Kloos.

I too have read Desperation and enjoyed it. Thanks for the tip, as I hadn't heard about the doubling up.

Finished Points of Impact. This one had a major plot discontinuity, which also ends up breaking Chekhov's law. otherwise, it was as enjoyable as the rest of the series.

Next, I think I will read Bloody Mary by J.A. Konrath, the second Jack Daniels mystery. I also have two more short stories in the Stephen King book. The next one up is The Body, which was the basis of the movie Stand by Me, as I recall.

Read A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman in less than one day and then started The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. Can't quit reading it. I knew right away that I will probably finish it by tomorrow sometime. This will be a 5-star rating, for sure, and A Man Called Ove was at least a 4.5-star rating (also watched the movie on Amazon Prime tonight).

This time, it's taken me 7 days, just under 7 hours and I'd probably give it 8/10.

Partly I think the difference is due to being in the doldrums personally, which can affect my enthusiasm for reading. In fact I chose Bridge of Birds for that reason. I knew myself and wanted a "guaranteed good read".

I do intend to read the other two but I'll alternate with other books. So next up is Soot by Andrew Martin which is an 18th century murder mystery that caught my eye at the library (actual paper book!)

Last night I finished The Summer Tree, the first book in the "Fionovar Tapestry" series. It was a quite interesting and surprising story. It looks like I have another series that I'm going to have to read at some point. For now, though, I'm going to pause for a few days, and then start on something lighter...

So, I got some reading done: finished Bloody Mary by J.A. Konrath, Big Mushy Happy Lump: A Sarah's Scribbles Collection by Sarah Anderson (hey, it's a book, don't judge me), and Dear Fahrenheit 451 by Annie Spence.

I have started The Armored Saint by Myke Cole, and there's a hardcover of Belinda Carlisle's lips unsealed [sic] that I am reading whilst in the hotel room. Plus, I am almost done with the Ringworld Engineers audio in the car.

Just finished Single Family Asylum by Jon Ziegler, a freebie on Smashwords. A beautifully written funny account of an American parent and his wife with two girl kids. The harder the author tries to attain "perfect parent" status, the more hilarious the stories become. Very entertaining. Recommended lighter read.

Finished The Armored Saint by Myke Cole. Looking forward to the sequel due out late this year.

I have begun reading After Atlas by Emma Newman.

I just received a new tablet, a Samsung Galaxy A (8")... I have mixed feelings: it's going to be a lot faster than my reliable Galaxy Tab 4 7.0, and has lots more room on it, but it's so darn BIG.

Turned out to be a very enjoyable read. I'm so-so on mysteries as a genre but the period details and the characters made this engaging.

Next is The Story of The Stone i.e. book 2 of the Master Li Chronicles of which The Bridge of Birds was book 1.

I'm starting to get back on track with my regular reading. I finished Caliban's War (Expanse #2) over the weekend, polished off Gods of Risk (a pseudo-epilogue novella) yesterday, and have started Abaddon's Gate (#3).

At some point, I really should watch the second season of the TV show.

Don't you love a Bank Holiday! Finished that.

Felt like something light next. So I have now moved on to 13 Dates by Matt Dunn, which is a romcom.

Finished listening to The Ringworld Engineers yesterday. My daily commute to work at the moment is 10-15 minutes, so the next audiobook won't be queued until the weekend...

Also, finished reading After Atlas by Emma Newman. Words fail me. No, there is one word I have for this book: epic

After Mars is due out in a couple weeks... I may just buy it rather than wait for my library to get it in, despite the exorbitant price-tag. Ooh, Becky Chambers has a new Wayfarers book out in July!

Aaaaanyway. My TBR is shuffled now that I have the new tablet to play with (when you add 303 ebooks at once, sorting by date kinda doesn't work), so no telling what I shall read next.

I finished reading The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn. An actual book which for some reason I bought in the bookstore. LOL I enjoyed it though. It was a good psychological suspense novel. Next up is Death’s Mistress by Terry Goodkind on my Kobo.
