Is it possible to use this App on other Android devices eg rooted Tolino? And how can we get it? Last edited by ottischwenk; 04-01-2018 at 03:57 AM. |

This said, yes there are many ways to retrieve application packages and install them elsewhere: Android is an open platform for work. |

My answer was that there may be a licensing issue, nonetheless that the ways to do that are at least a few hence there may be only minimal effort required to find the information you asked for. >Which possibilities exist Close to 100% I would say. |

First, I discovered that I would need to install ADB on my laptop. I found information about how to do that here: https://www.xda-developers.com/insta...s-macos-linux/ Then, I found out how to extract the apk file from an app from here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/...android-device I was able to successfully extract the apk files for the apps I wanted and then sideload and install them on my Note. They are working fine. Will this method work for OReader? I don't know. Might there be a simpler more elegant process to achieve the same? Probably. But as I have zero coding/hacking abilities, I wouldn't really know where to look. Best of luck. |

Here's the part of the thread that I linked to which worked for me on my unrooted Note. I have bolded the commands used:

A Super Easy Way to Extract APK Files from an APP

Wish I had discovered this method before. Would have saved me quite a few hours of research and fiddling. No root required. Download and install FX File Explorer from the Play Store to the Android device on which the app whose apk file you wish to extract resides. https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...xtapp.fx&hl=en In the Home screen of the FX app, you will find an icon labeled Apps. Open it up. You will be able to choose from User-Installed Apps and System Apps. In this case, you would select System Apps. Open it up. Navigate to the App you are interested in. In this case, O Reader. Although the package name and path are listed there, you don't need to bother with that. Instead, switch to the "Actions" tab in the status bar. There, you will be given a number of options which include "Copy APK". And, indeed, you will discover that "O Reader" is in fact a version of "AlReader". You can then copy the file and paste it to the main FX storage area from which you can retrieve it and copy it via your computer to sideload and install on another device. Super simple and no root required. Last edited by Question Mark; 04-01-2018 at 03:34 PM. |

I then sideloaded that APK file onto my Note and installed it. It came up as OReader, but looked very different from the Alreader app which I had earlier installed from the Play Store. I then uninstalled both of them because the Neoreader 2 and some other apps I have installed serve my purposes better. |
