Yeah, I don't disagree. There's a difference between what a book is and how it is marketed.

A bunch of Arthur C. Clarke stuff is on sale at Amazon. The Sentinel, Ghost From the Grand Banks, Imperial Earth, The Hammer of God and lots of others. Even his collaborations, Richter 10, The Trigger and Cradle. I couldn't link to all of them, but here's a link to his author page, sorted low to high (skip the German, unless you speak German).

Going through the list, I'm AMAZED at how many of his books I haven't read! Some I haven't even heard of. That man was prolific.

If you use Google Play you should check if a promotional banner is shown on your https://play.google.com/store/books page. I had a discount for R50 (approx $5) for purchase of titles above R50.

Just be sure to click on the banner, click on continue and it should show under rewards in your account section and then show a "You can apply your book reward at checkout" message on eligible books.

The Sister Paradox by Jack Campbell is on sale at Amazon for $0.99
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N30LB5P/

This is a light, humorous fantasy - very different from his other books (mostly SF).

Quote:
Liam is his parents' only child, and that's just fine with him.

Until the day the sister-he-never-had shows up at school.

Just to make it worse, the sword-wielding Kari tells him they have an important quest to complete.

And that's how Liam finds himself dragged into another world, facing basilisks and unicorns, cursed objects, elves, and even a dragon, all magical and dangerous, but none more so than the sister he didn't have until that morning. A sister who turns out to be quite good with her sword, and ready to use it when faced with things like a dragon as long as her brother is at her side.

Liam begins to realize two things: it's going to be a very long day, and having a sister can be weird. But most unsettling of all, he's not sure he minds...

The April Star Trek sale, good through the 29th, is on their 5-book, multiple-era Mirror Universe series, at 99 cents each. I have four of the books in paper (three chunky trades and one MMPB), but I might rebuy those just to have all five in the same format.

Oh, and Tom Holt's The Management Style of the Supreme Beings is presently $2.99 at Amazon US. This one's been on my wish list since release day (June 2017), so it was an instant purchase at this price.

Have you read The Collected Stories, which contains all, or at least most, of his short stories? I found a copy of that used several years back and the book is massive, Amazon lists it as 980 pages. Was well worth the time invested reading them all. Not all authors write short stories, much less that many in their lifetimes.

Yay! Snagged the Pratchett and dithering over Snowcrash. Think I'll grab a sample and then decide.

The Boxed set of the Time Shifters Chronicles episodes 1-5 is on 1.99 today at Amazon US & UK. I highly recommend these for anyone who enjoys time travel stories.

US https://www.amazon.com/Time-Shifters.../dp/B01GEO6DVU

UK https://www.amazon.co.uk/Time-Shifte.../dp/B01GEO6DVU

According to the author's Twitter, it's the last time at this price.

I picked that baby up for $1.99 last November. I also have several (all?) of the Rosetta collections. The Sentinel and The Star at least. But it was great getting them all in one book.

The Shambling Guide to New York City by Mur Lafferty is on sale for $2.99 in the US
This is a publisher sale by Orbit so available at most US stores

https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the...new-york-city/

A travel writer takes a job with a shady publishing company in New York, only to find that she must write a guide to the city - for the undead!
Because of the disaster that was her last job, Zoe is searching for a fresh start as a travel book editor in the tourist-centric New York City. After stumbling across a seemingly perfect position though, Zoe is blocked at every turn because of the one thing she can't take off her resume --- human.
Not to be put off by anything -- especially not her blood drinking boss or death goddess coworker -- Zoe delves deep into the monster world. But her job turns deadly when the careful balance between human and monsters starts to crumble -- with Zoe right in the middle.
