When she can have liquid morphine she gets some relief but at other times she is in terrible pain. She can't drink any more either so water is given by a sponge on a stick so that she can moisten her mouth. It is rough having to see her suffer like she is. Her sister (my aunt Kathy) and one of her daughters (my cousin Barbara) came up to see her today. I called her yesterday to let her know how poorly mom was doing. I wanted for her to have a chance to see mom and say good bye. They hadn't seen each other for a long time as we have no car and my aunt has health problems as well and so can't travel by herself.

Thank you for all the well wishes. It was and is hard but at least I have my fiancee to offer me some comfort by her presence (she's the dark haired beauty in my profile picture). Right now I'm waiting to test my bedtime blood sugar so I can get some rest.

I've just booked a couple of days away with my sister. We first wanted to go to Newcastle by boat. But tickets weren't on offer for when we wanted to go, add to that that my sister gets seasick easily. So we've decided to splurge and booked two nights at our favourite theme park, the Efteling.

A couple of years ago we spend one night at the hotel, that was too short. Especially since we traveled by public transport and it was 30C+. Now we've got three full days in the park and we're staying in one of the apartments (no full cooking facilities, but a lot more space and freedom). And since my sister now has her own car travel will be a lot easier, too.

I've been working on a project. I bought an inexpensive LCD projector and a spandex screen the other day and these last few days (in my free moments) I have been putting a frame for the screen together. I'm using pieces of pvc pipe and connectors. The actual screen frame will be some 6 ft wide and 3 ft 9 inches tall. Working on it has occupied my time and kept me from dwelling on recent events. Mom's visitation and memorial is on April 14th and I'm sure that will be a long, hard day all on its own.

Condolences, Crich. I am back in the Neuro unit wit my mom waiting to see if she has had yet another stroke. Much like you, I am engaging in distraction as well - listening to the Yankees game on the radio.
