An update on this topic.
Having gotten rid of the book which refused to index, the battery on my well-used 6th Gen PW is still draining much faster than before (whilst being used with the same settings & for the same amount of time per day as before).

I repeated the check for un-indexed books & there were none.

Have you tried a full reboot? I had issues with the previous update that corrected after I did a reboot.

Has anyone else noticed folders appearing in their documents folder based upon their read books? They are completely empty but are created in the name of the read book.

Every book will have a folder associated with it. It's where auxiliary files associated with the book are stored (annotations, etc.).

Yes I know that but they used to be created inside the main folder the book files were stored in.

The documents folder is the main folder to put ebooks in on a Kindle. You have to put them in there, even though you are allowed to put them in subfolders inside documents.

Yes. I've been wondering about that myself. These are different than the normal sidecar folders which reside in the same directory as the book file. The folder name is based on the metadata title name and not the filename. For me, they are created when opening a book for the first time. It only happens for two or three of my books.

Tried opening a couple of books. On my Kindle, it was downloading/converting to kfx, it seems and putting the kfx in the main documents directory? Doesn't seem to affect DRM-free sideloaded content.

That would explain why I'm not seeing it - all my content is sideloaded.

All my content is sideloaded as well via Calibre. No KFX format files in the lot.

Edit: These folders so far have remained empty.

Yes all mine is sideloaded too and all folders are empty.

Just installed this update and got the (very small) clock showing.
Seems a big update for just a clock and a couple of mods to search, but I assume Amazon knows what it's doing.
Clock may be a bit too small to be useful - will have to see how it goes.

Display settings is the Aa menu, 3rd tab "reading settings" has the clock.

Sorry for the delay in responding.

Yes. I had to do a reboot recently when my PW locked up.

Now that you have raised this, I think it may well have fixed the rapid battery drain problem because it doesn't seem to be happening now.
