Would any of the Likebook Plus owners be willing to help me with an April Fool's day joke?

I don't like FBReader because it doesn't respect CSS well enough. I find it a poor reading experience. Also, FBReader does not support Adobe DRM so borrowing Overdrive ePub is not possible for many people. Is it possible that the Likebook also has RMSDK (ADE) on board?

It looks like it does, but I won't use regular ADE anymore because it's ridiculous on android. I was trying different apps on one device and ran out of activations because each app was considered an activation. I use the original Overdrive on the Boyue and the new Libby Overdrive app on my other devices. There is supposed to be a limit on devices, but I thought I would have passed it again by now. The one time I did, I could deactivate any of my devices from the app. No emailing and begging for more activations.

So what app(s) for a Likebook would you recommend that supports Adobe DRM?

Like I said, the only one I can use on Android is the Overdrive app or the Overdrive Libby app. Libby doesn't work on the T80s so for me that leaves the regular Overdrive app. Maybe someone else can recommend another app.

Might Bluefire work or does that require a later version of Android?

I am reading with shock that the internal reader is a modified version of FBReader.
It is not the first time that I see FBReader modified to work as main reader in a device.
But what happens is, the authors of FBReader for some reason had adopted a policy that makes the software very inclined to send data on the Internet. (In fact, to use a recent version and be reasonably confident that it does not misbehave I had to cripple it.)

Are we sure that the version embedded in the Icarus/Boyue does not send data around?

It is the Pro version, if that helps. I am sure the FBReader folks are making money on this and don't need ads.

If anyone would make a video of this device browsing the net in a2 mode (where it never refreshes the screen) I would be very grateful.

That video does not show browsing (in a2) but only play store. There are no such videos online. I contacted Icarus and they sent me videos, but only show XL HD WITHOUT a2 mode.

(I think they don’t understand my requests.)

I have to say that the software is rubbish. FBReader to read ePub is going to be an awful experience. Plus for those who do not remove DRM of library ePub, they won't be readable.

Since I have never used FBReader I can't compare. But the version of FBReader on the device seems to work fine. Personally I like a lot more control of my books than the version of FBReader on the device allows so I use Moon+ Reader Pro.

After your conversation with Purple Lady I went ahead and installed the Overdrive App an was able to download and read a book from my online library. So this DRM book was readable. But I have no doubt that you are correct and there are devices that handle this much better.

As a matter of practice though I do as you suggest and remove all DRM before I transfer any book to my device to read.

Compared to even the free version of FBReader in the Play Store, the version that comes with this tablet is pretty bad. If you were used to using the Play Store version, you probably won't like this version. Almost all settings have been removed.
