On youtube, in the advertisements, the note is often white, whereas it is black in all the unboxing pictures... Someone does know why?

Anyway, white or black, I cannot wait until having it in my hands!!!!

It's a similar situation for the Max 2 AFAICT.

On another thread, we've been doing some experiments and as far as we can tell, to get comparable speed as the bundled Note app, existing apps would need to be modified to use Onyx's SDK.

Thanks, it would seem from that page (and a poor Google Translate), that people are receiving units in the past couple of days - is this actually the case?

Is that with the stock note app? Because if so, yikes, that is dreadful. Makes my DPT-RP1 seem like a dream. That won't be acceptable at all.

*Edit*

I'm an idiot and can't read. You and the video said one note.

How awful is it to implement the fixes for these apps I wonder?

It is not yet clear what detail is to be fixed. But some people have an interest, so they will presumably check.

I made some rough modifications to Simple Mobile Tools' app Draw to make it work a bit better with the Max 2.

The result is not perfect, but in my limited testing, I can see that at least the stylus produces scribbles in the app at speeds that don't look that different from the bundled Note app.

Draw is a very simple app though and the changes made were limited and only for testing.

In case there are any developers who are interested in the details, what follows is a description of the procedure followed, starting with some relevant docs from Onyx:

https://github.com/onyx-intl/OnyxAnd...nyx-Pen-SDK.md

I studied and modified one of their samples (also available at the same repository) to prepare for the modifications - specifically, I stripped down their 'sample' sample, removing pretty much everything except:

https://github.com/onyx-intl/OnyxAnd...oActivity.java

as well as removing what seemed inessential from that file. Building that stripped down sample, running it on a Max 2, and studying the logs it produced helped to understand their docs better.

Next the Draw app was studied to get an idea of how to modify it. For developers who already understand their app, I imagine this might be close to a NO-OP

The actual modifications were minor in the scheme of things, but again, Draw is fairly uncomplicated as these types of things go.

My guess is that a fair number (if not all?) of the apps folks would be interested in having better support for the Onyx devices (at least for the stylus portion) don't have source code generally available to the public and further that the corresponding developers may not have Onyx devices to test with...

Great! Don't you deserve some karma?

Now if a good product was found, that allows modification and redistribution, there would be no need to knock at the door of developers' teams.
Or, it the experience now makes it clear (supposing that SMT's Draw was slow before and is fast now) what is the non-generality point of the leading mainstream apps, it is a good idea to knock at their door with full details.

If more is found or worked upon, maybe a specific thread would be appropriate.

Did you understand the matter about "pen is slow vs. mouse is fast"?

Thanks for these efforts and findings. Unfortunately this means that the chances of a OneNote or Evernote being usable are quite low. But then again, it's not really Onyx's fault.

I believe this is the original video I recall seeing. Looks good here. More fluid than my Sony for sure.

While I am generally a OneNote user, I am not opposed to using a different app. I just like OneNote because of its cross platform capabilities.

How do these devices tend to fair with applications like Google Drive or One Drive if I wanted to save the notes I create in the default app and pull them up from my laptop later on?

Perhaps you mentioned more detail in another thread, but at the moment I'm not sure I understand what you mean -- would you mind elaborating or pointing me at the relevant discussion?

My current impression is that stylus responsiveness + rendering to the screen can be improved by using (at least one of) Onyx's SDK API approaches:

https://github.com/onyx-intl/OnyxAnd...nyx-Pen-SDK.md

(There appears to be at least one other Onyx API approach (an older one?), though I haven't tried it.)

My current guess is that if the ordinary Android SDK approach to handling things is taken, we're not going to see nice results with the current firmware. Though perhaps it's possible Onyx can improve things on this end with an update to the firmware -- I don't know if this is feasible or likely to happen, but it certainly would be nice

I know nothing about Android programming, but would there be some way to approach the problem from the JIT compiler side of things? ie, when an app is executed add some command line arguments?
