Calibre paragraph spacing

having issues trying to remove spacing between paragraphs on epub in calibre 3.16. after converting and selecting remove paragraph option it still fails to remove spacing. Is there a quick fix to this? i have uploaded the file and you'll see what I mean. epub seems fine and passed the epub 3 checker but I don't want the spacing between paragraphs. I also assume when I remove spacing eventually the 1.5indent will kick in by default. help appreciated. David

Three things:
1. DO NOT post copyrighted material.

2. Fixing this will likely require manual edits using calibre's Edit Book utility or using Sigil. The paragraph separation was done in a rather horrid and non-standard manner. I can't see how calibre could remove it as an automated procedure in conversion.

3. The 1.5em indent is not a universal default. It may be with some reading software, but it is not universal. You will likely need to set it in the book's CSS after taking care of #2.

Open the book in the editor and find what code is causing the spaces. I found this to be causing most all of the spaces.

<hr class="hruleline"/>

Removing these eliminated most of the spaces between paragraphs. Other spaces you'll have to examine the code at those points and see if they're needed.

Delete the line that appears between the paragraphs. Copy the entire line to the clipboard, and then do a find for that line and replace with nothing in the replace line (in all the text files).

If there is no line (a line with code, that is) between the paragraphs, then find the class code for the paragraphs. Go into the stylesheet.css file, go to that class code, and change the top and bottom margins to 0. Add or change the text-indent line to 1.2em. (I prefer 1.2em over 1.5em, since it's more standard and looks much better while reading than 1.5em or anything more or less than 1.2em.)
