The hand tweak survives Modify & Save - I don't use Pretty or Send.

If I can hack Modify to do the push then it will be 'easy', it can do it whilst its removing the cover - hand editing code occasionally is OK, but not routinely.

A list of resources would have helped me find that - I searched on 'jacket'

I did read that section a long time ago - I would have dismissed it tout de suite though because I never change things like icons.

Well that was easy - I now have a modified Modify that puts that jacket at the back of the book

once again this forum has HALF EXPLAINED how to do something. I see in the settings where to go to Page Set up and check the box for "insert metadata as a page". I've done all that but WHERE do I actually copy and paste the summary of the freakin' book???? I like calibre ok but I hate coming here to find "answers" when people only half help you (or the "help" they provide isn't really a solution at all!). Terribly frustrating!

You paste the summary to the comments section in the "Edit Metadata" window.

Comments section in the Metadata editor is where a 'Summary' typically ends up.
That said. The entire (standard) contents of the MDE is used by Calibre to construct the 'Jacket", which gets inserted depending on other settings (The default is yes): Conversions, Send To device. There are other tools (plugins) that allow you to 'force' this into the Library Copy (which does not automatically get updated when you make changes) Do visit the Plugin (sub forum) Index list

This thread is about inserting a book jacket at the beginning of a book. You don't have to copy and paste the summary anywhere other than the basic comments section where it is placed by default when you download metadata.

You can insert the book jacket (AKA summary) at the beginning of your book by checking the "Insert metadata as page at start of book" option under Structure detection when converting the book. The fact that this is an option when converting the book is made obvious since the option in Preferences is under the Conversion section.

You can also use the Polish feature (something that did not exist when this thread was created) to insert the "book jacket" at the beginning of an Epub or AZW3 book.

Pretty much everybody here is providing help out of the goodness of their heart, because they want to give back to the community that they themselves have received help from. If you are dissatisfied with the "quality" of the help that these willing volunteers are providing to you, might I respectfully suggest that you set an example by providing to others the standard of help that you'd expect to receive yourself, rather than complaining about what other people are freely giving to you?
